MadL Posted April 3, 2020 Share In need some advice please. I am in the market for a new carbon dual suspension mtb. On the shortlist currently is a ktm, a cannondale and a Scott. How would maintenance cost and repairs compare in price on these 3 makes? Eg minor service cost, fork service/replacement, availability of parts. Pieter1 Posted April 3, 2020 Share Lekker man! Always nice to buy a new bike. Most minor services should cost the same, the price depends on what parts need to be replaced and then it is up to you how expensive it is going to be. Suspension services are pricy because 1. You need to know what you are doing when you do full rebuilds or major services. The 50hr services is something you could possibly do at home. 2. The service kits are expensive. Wrt availability I’ve heard Fox replacement parts/service kits are easier to get but I have not had issues getting Rockshox kits so I can’t really comment. Good luck with choosing a bike and enjoy the process and eventually the riding.
droo Posted April 3, 2020 Share Of the 3 you've listed, Spark all the way. Far less proprietary hackery than Cannondale and far better local support for spares than KTM. Koos Likkewaan and BenReaper
Larry King Posted April 3, 2020 Share I have a spark, extremely happy with the longevity. Easy and cheap to service.
