I wouldn't spend that because I have found the perfect saddle and couldn't afford that price

But 18 months ago I probably would have spent that in an effort to get comfortable and I would have paid R59 a ride for comfort (156 rides last year)

In the current financial climate I'd rather just have a sore @rse

Saddles are such a weirdly thought of contact point.

Guys will comfortably spend thousands on shoes, pedals, grips, special damping handlebars, Assos bib shorts etc but feel ripped off when asked to spend money on a saddle.

Now while I get R9500 is a heck of a lot, but it is one of the most important contact points if you spend hours upon hours on the bike.

I would rather have the most comfortable saddle I can afford and SLX components than XTR and a sore butt.

The poor old saddle. Underappreciated by so many...

Funny this sort of thing much like a bed you sleep on for 10 years every single night, you'd just want the best you could afford but people don't like to cough up

You sound like you've never had a proper bike setup.
