time4net Posted June 22, 2020 Share Hi All, I am in Durban and have an older Garmin Edge 500 (Blue) that is becoming difficult to sync. I believe that the USB port is becoming problematic and if you jiggle it a bit and holt it tight it sometimes syncs. It used to be that that you could send these types of problems in for repair. Does anyone know if this is still applicable for the Edge 500 Thanks in advance.
Fitbull Posted June 23, 2020 Share I had a similar issue with my garmin 800, eventually gave up and traded it in on an upgrade. It just wasn't worth the repair costs and I "needed" a newer shinier version anyway, just dont tell the wife Use it as an opportunity to upgrade to the new 530 you wont be disappointed.... Cyclewizz Posted June 23, 2020 Share You can send it to Garmin for repair but they'll just offer you an exchange.Used to be about R2500.00 and you got a new Edge 520 (might be the 530 now).
phenning Posted June 23, 2020 Share I found that some rust and dirt formed on the connector over time, have a look and see if you can clean it up a bit

No more having to plug it into the computer to sync every time.Bluetooth to your phone makes life easy. Cyclewizz

Gregc Posted June 23, 2020 Share I had the same issue with my old 520. Got a storage device error when I tried to connect to the PC to download. It was 7 years old and working 100% except for the downloading issue. They dont repair, just offer a trade in. Got a Garmin 130 which does everything i need.
