Rhodes Mem heads up

I rode up to Rhodes Mem yesterday morning (around 08h00) and at the bottom of the "other fun part" singletrack, rode up to a tall guy from behind, walking down the path, tossing litter into the bushes. I passed him and mentioned he had left some litter....which he didn't respond to at all kindly.

 

In polite terms, he mentioned that I should leave quickly, get on my bike and go (I was at the gate at this stage), otherwise he would harm me. When I had lifted my bike over the entrace stile, he came to the other side of the gate quite quickly and continued to abuse me and also struck the gate with a piece of iron pipe he was carrying......mentioning that this could be used on me, to good effect. So, I left.

 

It is clear that he had been sleeping in the forest somewhere there, and although I was not harmed at all, it could have ended differently, I guess. So, take care if you ride there in the mornings. I doubt he is actually out to harm or mug people, one never knows, but definitely don't call him out for littering.
