Anyway i am looking at a trainer, spoke to the bike shop that i got my bike from. They said that Tuesday the new wahoo kickr 5 get released and that they would have stock in this week still.

Thing is, no where on the net you can find anything about the new version coming really, why so hush hush if its like one of “ the “ trainers to get?

Also stumbled upon a overseas threat last night, noting but complaints about the kickr4, some have returned the unit like 5 times, anyone had problems with theirs?

Thanks Guys!

If there are just complaints, I would not rely on that website. There is much praise for the kickr4 out there.

Also, nothing on DCRainmaker (https://www.dcrainmaker.com/), and he normally has these things tested before the models go on sale, so I am not sure on your bike shop gets their info from

I have also heard there is a new Kickr 5 and was told the official launch is around the 15 August.  Wahoo SA already have stock of the new Kickr.

Guessing if anything they'll ditch the mechanical flywheel and go for an electronic one like they have in the Kickr Bike.  Seems that implementation has gone well.

Makes sense in terms of time frame, this is the time of year they release the new model every year.

Hi, I bought a kickr 4 and also had to go through a few rounds of replacements. Yes there might be issues if you buy but I have yet to see such good support as what Ikhambi delivers.  So even after my 4th replacement I would still buy a kickr as the support is amazing.

Doesn't seem like much of a difference. I for one can live with doing the occasional spindown and the diff in accuracy.

Perhaps when you've got such a good foundation, there's not much more needed

Wondering when these will be available and price:

I'm wondering if this auto calibration process or something similar could be achieved by firmware updates for the current Kickr4. They added cadence measurement/readings to the Kickr4 and Core via firmware updates, so just wondering if that'd be possible for calibration as well.

Good call by your bike shop. Maybe the changes weren’t significant enough for dcrainmaker to do a full review, or maybe he has been busy testing other trainers

I was expecting this to come in a new release of the kickr, but I expect a new kickr this year. Guess I’m wrong on two accounts.

I think all or at least most other manufacturers use the electric fly wheel, and since it’s on their bike, it seemed the next step
