DR ◣◢ Posted August 20, 2020 Share This is quite a surprise Advert popping up with very clickbait title. Clearly a fake advert so I went exploring. The Mirror now uses easychickentortilla.blogspot.com as their URL. Seems legit. Read the article and there are so many inconsistencies. Even the Facebook comment feed at the bottom reeks of farmed comments and replies. Admin? Whatup? This is why my adblocker will stay on. The ad came through Google Ad Exchange which runs as a supplement to our directly sold ads. Ads via the ad exchange are not vetted by us, but are subject to Googles ad policies. Rubbish like this should not be coming via Google, but occasionally we do see it sneak through. I have blocked this particular advertiser and reported it to Google. DR ◣◢ Posted August 20, 2020 Share Is there no way to get the advertising more industry related? Right now I’m seeing a Leeroy Merlin advert. Not in the least related to me or even remotely accurate according to my browsing history. These ads are very annoying and distracting. Adblock does a great job on desktop but sadly no option on mobile to block. I’d love to support the site through adverts but at least let it be relevant. Matt Posted August 20, 2020 Share Part of the reason we introduced Bike Hub Plus was to reduce (ideally remove) any reliance on 3rd party advertising networks like Google Ad Exchange. And to give those who prefer Ad Block for all browsing an option to support the site another way.The reality is that the revenue generated from it does help to pay salaries and issues like this seldom occur. In future we plan to be in a position where we can pull the plug on 3rd party networks altogether. In case you happen to know any good candidates 100% agree with you on seeing more relevant ads and not having ads be too disruptive to your experience on Bike Hub. This is a big priority for us, but obviously a balancing act. We always lean in favour of user experience over ad revenue from invasive or annoying ads so feedback like this is crucial. It is so efficient to the point of annoyance sometimes. It will even block shopping results in google search lol. Pretty sure you’ll fi d the 1.1.1.1 by cloudfare in the google play store...not sure about blockbear. Edited August 20, 2020 by morneS555

Jewbacca Posted August 21, 2020 Share Swaaibraai looks legit! I don't get those ads... But then I suppose I don't use my phone. I wouldn't complain about that one though. The guy who used MS Paint to put that together did a great job! Edited August 21, 2020 by Jewbacca DR ◣◢

Then again I don’t need Chrome ???? MORNE
Matt Posted August 21, 2020 Share ... Big wtf on that one It's actually an ad from ShowMax who we'd expect to have a little more class. Blocked it and we'll do a deeper review of ads coming in via Google. Although it is a useful supplement to our revenue this sort of rubbish is not what we want on Bike Hub. MORNE Posted August 21, 2020 Share Working perfectly. Too bad Blockbear is only for Safari on iOS.Then again I don’t need Chrome i get that. i just hate how the new chrome app works ito layout/flow. And since i use also macs for work it's just easier moving between the devices using safari for me. Chrome does offer the same...it's just less integrated into MacOS obviously. And once you get all that set up and experience the sleek bliss that is advert free browsing it's hard to go back. The internet is a harsh place to navigate the best of days....don't need all that BS taking away from what i ACTUALLY want to see. PS:You know you got the noise on mute when you can access one of those torrent sites and it is as clean as a whistle lol DR ◣◢

The Apple implemented security in Safari I also feel is better than Chrome. MORNE

I dont envy your position at all, Im sure very few people understand how much work an online business can be.Its hard to please everyone but the reality is that running a busy website costs a lot.Local dedicated servers with good bandwidth, forum software costs, developers to customize the forum software and then there are staff salaries for good journalism. I think you are doing a great job though!!
