If you havent got plans yet for the upcoming long weekend (24-27 Sep), then we might have just the thing your looking for.

This past weekend, we had our first Stanford Cheese and wine MTB weekend, and although the weather really didnt play along, it still provided some excellent riding, and the food and wine was equally excellent all along. I will post some pictures in the second post from this past weekends ride.

We are offering for this upcoming long weekend, an awesome package deal on an extended version of this trip, which will give you the chance to really explore some of the best riding that the stanford area has to offer. Some of the riding is open to the public, but a lot of the best of it, we have arranged special permission with the land owners to access, and the best part is, its less than 2 hours drive from Cape Town, or 90 Minutes from the airport.

We have space for 8 riders (2 groups of 4), to join us over the long weekend, at the bargain price of only R8000.00 for 4 riders sharing.

to book one of these spots now, click here

Or, to book an indvidual spot - click here

Accomodation can be arrange as either 2 Twin rooms or Double rooms per group, depending on how cuddly you are with your riding partners. (Each Group of 4 Riders, will share a 2 bedroom cottage, Each room is en Suite, and can be made up as either 2 single beds, or 1 queen size bed, based on your preference)

The Basic itenerary for the weekend will be:

Thurs 24 Sep - Arrive at liesure, anytime after 14:00. Once everyone is settled in, we will take you out on a ride around town, to show some of the sights, if you want. This is a good opportunity for a bike check before the serious riding begins. We will then all enjoy Dinner together at Madre's in town, before settling in for the night

Fri 25 Sep - Early morning coffee and rusks, before taking off on a ride out past Stanford Hills, over the infamous Strava section known as KOTS-BULT, and then down the valley towards Bluegum estate, where we will enjoy a light breakfast, freshly prepared for us. We then continue on across private property, where we have speifically arranged permission to ride, as we make our way up the Klien River Valley, all the way to StoneHouse Cheese Estate, where we will do a cheese tasting and a brief tour of the operations there, before starting our descent back down the valley, stopping off for wine tastings at Boschrivier, Raka and Stanford Manor, before eventually reaching Klien River Cheese Farm, where we will enjoy picnic lunch, sampling the best of the cheese that they have on offer. From here, its a short ride back to Stanford, for a well desereved shower and rest. Later in the afternoon we will take you down to a private beach for sundowerns overlooking walker bay. We then Return to Stanford, for a braai at Inn the End, before, turning in for the night.

(Approx 45km of riding)

Saturday 26 Sep - Today, we start off with a light breakfast at Inn the End, before riding out of town, and exploring the routes between Stanford and Baardskkerdersbos, enjoying a mix of remote gravel roads, jeep tracks and single track as we head via Papiesvlie, over the mountains towards Baardskeerdersbos, Stopping at Lomond for a wine tasting, before finally finishing off the days ride at the African Penguin Rescue Centre outside of Gaansbaai, where we will have lunch and learn about the work done by them. Then we shuttle back to Stanford, to relax for the afternoon, before, enjoying an interactive pizzan making experience for dinner, rounded off with good wine and some fireside banter, as well as discuss options for tomorrow riding, or lack there of....

Aprox 65km of riding for the day

(A sundowner boat cruise of the Klien River Lagoon can be arranged at own cost)

Sunday 27 Sep - There are a number of options at your disposal for the day, all of which would have been discussed in detial the night before. For those that want, a transfer to Hermanuspeiterfontien for some awesome trail riding can be arranged, or alternatively, you might choose to just take it easy and explore stanford a little more. Whatever you choose, we will all get together around midday for luch, before saying our goodbyes, and making your way back home in the afternoon.

You know man... I gotta be honest here...

Ive seen the multitude of adverts you've posted, and I understand you're trying something new. But, a couple of problems stick out and you might wanna consider addressing them.

One, your reputation for caring for groups of people depending on you is horrific. I can tell you now, I would have sued the absolute pants off you if you deserted me in a foreign country without food or a plan, or even an honest announcement of the reason for your departure.

Second, you keep coming in with this loaded price for these 'adventures' and end up dropping pricing when attendance is poor. From my perspective, it seems you're happy to rip me off, and no one else is interested.

Lastly, honestly, you don't seem to be offering anything I can't plan and do on my own with my mates for less money, less risk, and more choice and convenience. Hubbers in general are a pretty handy DIY bunch, so I don't see this being your target market.

I get that your service might be great for international visitors, but your reputation and value offering is diluted every time you post on your own threads with no replies.

Maybe, just maybe, some ride reports, trip videos, or similar would help build some Gees and trust in your product, and help me feel more secure that you're not gonna dump me in the desert with my bike and drive off...

Use it, don't use it, but I feel like staying silent would be a disservice. Good luck man.

Thanks for the input Guy.

Firstly, I understand your concerns, but I feel that bringing up an unrelated incident from almost a decade ago, is not nescasarily in the interest of anyone here. The issue in question was dealt with at the time, and the people involved were all compensated, apologies have been made and I feel it has well and truly been put to bed.

If you feel the prices are loaded, that is your opinion, and I respect that. I however do feel that our pricing is fair. Discounting to gather attention and get a customer base built up is normal business, and I realise that in order to get people to try out something new like this, I will at times need to discount offerings to cost price. I really dont think R2600.00pp for 3 nights accomodation, meals, supported and led rides, multiple wine tastings etc is a rip off, but if I am wrong, i am surely miss reading my target market.

The bulk of our ride offerings, including this one, rely heavily on pre-arranged access to private propery, that is not generally open to the public. But i understand this might not appeal to you, and if you have access to all the riding you want, then this is obviously not a product for you. Your input is appreciatted.

I fully agree with your comment about ride reports, images, video etc. There are some of these already up on our website, and on the hub, and more will follow.

Hahaha I also use "thanks for your input" as a polite **** off...

But seriously.

While the event mentioned was years ago, it IS unfortunately related. It's the same business model, with people being just as dependant on you as those customers were. But okay. Let's leave that in the past.

Second, if the price drops are to drum up business, why not present that up front? Instead of advertising one price then dropping it, why not advertise the lower price and state that this is to drive business, Normal price is X... It just comes across less scroogey my man.

The once off access is cool. I would definitely make a bigger point of this - for reals, it's your biggest selling point to this crowd. I wanna see what's so exclusive about it!

Lastly, you must bear in mind we have good memories here... I don't want to see ride photos from your scheduled photo shoots - maybe invite a journalist to your rides, or even a well respected hubber to review your product and post it here, like most companies do. Your business is in embryo and we need to know that you can be trusted and deliver on what you promise...

Anyway, again, best of luck bruv. It's a tough game out there.

@TBoss my 2c

I've tried (unsuccessfully) to get a riding tour company off the ground. We ended up doing 2 trips to France and the trips basically very partially subsidized mine and my partners trips.

I truly believe that your type of business has a bright future as mountain bikers in SA begin to realize that multi day stage races are actually a very bad value offering and start seeking our more lifestyle/adventure/experience offerings.

That's a great offer man. But honestly it wouldn't sit well with me to take it up for free, and I'm not in a position right now to fairly compensate you.

I would love this to be extended, even in part though, to a more respected and experienced hubber, I really think it will do wonders for your credibility and the attractiveness of your offers!

Like the poster above, this is a golden opportunity, I just think you've got better ways to get it off the ground and gain momentum.

Hopefully I can join in once all my personal nonsense is out of the way!
