JimmyJones123 Posted September 7, 2020 Share Hi. New here. I hope this is the right place to post.I recently got an old Giant Sedona for free to fix up for fun and gift to someone or let my daughter ride. Thing has bottom pivot cantilever brakes on Rox shocks. Pulling the lever activates the brakes but also compresses the shock = weak brakes. Cable routing is Lever to spacer mounted cable stop down to Y split. Any ideas on how to make the front brakes work properly?
droo Posted September 7, 2020 Share Canti brakes should have a cable stop on the fork arch, this makes it sound like the stop is on the frame somewhere. Photos would help though.

Exactly. Stop is on the spacer. There is a hole in the fork arch. The stop should be in there?
droo Posted September 8, 2020 Share Pretty sure you should be running V brakes with that fork, which would solve your problem. Skylark and AdamA

JimmyJones123 Posted September 16, 2020 Share Thanks. Manufactured a cable stop out of aluminium and fitted it to the arch. Brakes work perfectly now. PieterJvR

As per my last post, find and fit a set of V brakes, which is what the fork was designed for.
Skylark Posted September 16, 2020 Share Get V brake calipers or fit a rigid fork..
