Their planned route for the TT is one that'll rip the legs right off of you especially with all the racing that has been done before you get to this stage!

I hope they can pull this off. Would be epic to have it back!

Tour of Good Hope rebranded with a new sponsor?

ASG Events dies from covid (leaving a few people out of money) and out of the ashes steps "Hectic Promotions" to fill the gap.

Would be interested to know their relation with ASG (if any). But anyway, good luck to them. Hope they can make a better success of this than the previous guys. A week long roadie stage race leading up to the CTCT have great potential.

Hectic Promotions have been going for a few years. As said in another thread, Tshwane Classic, Lost City, etc.

Tshwane Classic and Lost City used to be ASG events?

Not saying its the same people but there seems to be a connection?

It says the toer is for elite riders and the amateur riders can do the opening day....

So I'm going to suggest it's already a fail if they are limiting entries to 'pseudo pro's' and organised teams.

I'd be super keen if it was more inviting and less 'you can ride day 1 peasant'.....

Or have I read that wrong?

Seems to be open for male vets in seperate groups as well?

Nice to see the name back, but this is really closer to a Giro Del Capo than a proper Toer.

Indeed.

The rapport toer did do a shorter version as life support before it finally died. There was one iteration that took place on the western cape that provided the platform for the Giro del Capo to to launch from

Agree.

The Giro was "doable" by a proper fit cyclist.  Was classed 2.1 I think.

The Rapport Tour was only for the crazy fit and mentally ill people, UCI 2.Pro or something.

Also both races only teams could participate with organisers providing accommodation etc (all the rules that come with UCI tours)

This Rapport tour thing seems like any other "participation" event in SA at the moment.

Hackers can do it!

Seems like a solo subvet entry is R4k.

So it is like any other event currently, but a road stage race needs to get off the ground somehow. If they have ambitions to create a "tour down under" type uci event then this is one way to do it.

This looks super exciting, that stage 3 is amazing, the last stage is just to get whatever left you have in your legs after the previous days racing ! I'm super keen !

Stage 3 & 4 were the highlights of the TOGH. No PPA funrides took you over Franschoek, Du Toitskloof and Bains* - nevermind 2 on one stage. Was proper tough (and sucked if you arent a great climber because that means getting dropped early followed by a 100k TT  )

Think big part of the reason the race tanked was these stages taken out due to roadworks and bad planning.

* Yes Mr Internet Correction Guy - except for the 2019 One Tonner.

I stayed in Franschhoek last month and did the pass 4 times in one morning I looooooved it !

I drove Dutoitskloof pass for that Slanghoek race recently and thought I must come back and ride it one day !

This stage has both (and 150km to do in between haha), but yes, you sure don't want to get dropped up Franschoek pass because it's going to be a long day on the bicycle if you do ;)
