Hello again from Greece, still working on several projects thanks to the lockdown ([emoji51][emoji51][emoji2959][emoji2959]) I found my self another one which needed desperately my need. It was a miyata century a Japanese carbon aluminium frame with gold plating lugs celebrating the 100th years of the Miyata company. Only 100 frames were made and I couldn't resist

The bike was missing several stickers, some bits and chips of paint missing so I will manage to replicate and restore. as close as possible adding just for the luxury a DA 7400 which I will buff and partially gold plated it.3725ebe2a12a4c379c516223a6a455d7.jpgd07c3380e5bd4bb80a1e79a19f4473b8.jpg943fc468af438ba93194a29c3c38ea81.jpg8e7dcfcfaa40019b1921e45e5e556dd0.jpg960a6c486d63e8973c278db02e1b8ec1.jpg5773945880606c5c6743b776f7172c45.jpgd1573dd819d8ee6d19dfaad095003b6d.jpg

Frame is now on my dearest friend/restorer/painter.

Parts of the groupset has been carefully dismantled buffed and sent for gold plating processing. Reverting upon finish stay in touch.

Man I loved that Dura Ace 7400. Had some cranks and FD on my Exocet in the 1990s, as well as a set of wheels on 7400 hubs and Open4CDs. The cranks were especially beautiful, had a kind of rainbow reflection when the light hit them just right....fond memories.

I also have fond memories of those parts.

In those days if you had a Dura Ace groupset you were the coolest dude around. And it stayed cool for years and years. No 1995 vs 1996 vs 1997 groupo. You had Dura Ace! And as for Open4Cds, say no more!

only 100 ever made if I am correct? That is an awesome project.

Yes that is correct, though my bike was missing several decals had little bit of paint chips back in the chain stays and the gold plating needed some refreshing. So that's why I will reproduce it as close as I can revieving the paint the lacquer the sticker and doing all over the gold lugs. Would be a tough one but a keeper though.

Isn't that the truth! When we were kids, we had DNP-GX, Tourney, Exage, Suntour, Modolo and Gipiemme and Sachs Huret leftovers from the 70s, and if you were really, really lucky, Shimano 105.

Dura Ace was 'unobtanium' for the most part; I remember a chap named Steve McMaster who had a red Cannondale with Dura Ace 7400...that alone made him a hero in my 16-year old eyes...

Probably a sign of our increased prosperity that all and sundry are rocking the latest top end gear and changing it every year. What a time to be alive.

Agree. Have ridden Chorus and Record at various times, but DA is smoother and lighter action. Better brakes, too.
