Vittoria Mezcal

BSG

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow cyclists.

Any feedback on the Vittoria Mezcal 29x2.35 as a front and rear tyre would be appreciated.

I cycle mostly gravel roads with some tar to get in and out of town. Sometimes hard pack singel/Jeep tracks, I don't cycle in rainy/muddy weather if I can prevent it.

Maritz's Titan came with these tires, in 26".

600km later, no issues.

Great tires. Fast rolling and better grip than you think.

Thanks guys. A friend of mine from whom I bought the Onzas gave me a good deal on new tyres so I opted for these as he is out of Maxxis which would have been my 1st choice.

Also I must give a shout out to Francois from Rush Sports who actually offered me Maxxis but they will only be available end of March as even they are awaiting stock and I can not cycle for another 4 weeks.

So I have redone my tubeless system on the rims since I took the tyres off and had some time on hand.

Mezcal is fast rolling and grips well till the top layer of rubber has worn off. After that the grip falls away.

They are also pretty heavy compared to other low thread block xco tyres.

Thus should be fine for the use BSG described. (?)

At least he wont be pumping the tires each week ... :)

I just need to start cycling before I get to fat, for the price I get it for, I'll just have to be happy for the help. Can't afford to pay R1000 upwards for another set of tyres at the moment.

^^^^^this is all that counts at the moment. And if it was weekly it would've been ok, but nowadays it was twice everyday [emoji854][emoji1787]

I have a Mezcal 2.35 in the rear with a Barzo in the front. I clocked 4500km on it and then decided to change it when I did a sealant top up. I never had any issues link punctures or leaks.

This is my opinion but I prefer them over the MAXXIS, yes they are a bit heavier but they are pretty solid

They work great IMO

  • 4 weeks later...

What is you verdict after month 1 ?

I think I like them. Have done tar and gravel, not really single-track, but they roll nice and fast. And as far as my little knowledge goes, they grip really well for what I use them.
