Razor1972 Posted May 2, 2021 Share Hi there. I need advice on my upgrade. I recently bought a 12 speed upgrade for my 11 speed. I first double checked that the hub doesn't have to change and from what I saw, I was good to go. I thought, 'heck let's try to do this myself'. So I fit the 12 speed GX eagle and everything seem to fit, but when I place my wheel on the bike and tighten it, the cassette doesn't seem to move freely backwards. Forwards it's free though. 100Tours Posted May 2, 2021 Share if I understand correctly the freehub is 'stuck' - i.e. forward is fine (the freehub would not be free in this direction), but the freehub is not free in reverse either. hard to say more without knowing the hub, but that might help you figure out the problem. as a guess the cassette is binding on the wheel/hub somehow. dasilvarsa 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BaGearA Posted May 2, 2021 Share Best guess is theres a spacer between the freehub and hub missing or the end cap isnt pressed on all the way Or the freehub got dislodged during installation and may just need A good press to seat bqck in. lechatnoir Posted May 3, 2021 Share Sounds like something's missing that should be there. Or something is there that shouldn't be (ie a gap where something's not seated properly) sounds obvious, but things get overlooked at times. If it hasn't been stated, take your bike and wheels in together to get sorted - that way the tech can sort it properly and you'll leave having seen it all work nice-nice.
