Reg Lizard Posted August 4, 2008 Share My brothers in the corporate side of things and has told me many such stories about Outsurance (or as I like to refer to as Out of Action). Scary stuff. You pay all that money and when you need them, ahhh.... sorry but........
markStockton Posted August 4, 2008 Share Here some stats from Hello Peter (http://www.hellopeter.com) Compliments vs Complaints Outsurance 277 555 33% Initially I couldn't find SA Eagle, however it would seem this is because they don't respond to complaints lodged on the site. I'm sure glad I'm not insured with someone who doesn't respond.
fandacious Posted August 4, 2008 Share Hello Peter is a bit of a scam. They charge you exorbitant fees to be listed as someone who responds... and why? who the hell appointed peater cheales supreme deity of complaints? Why should a company pay him for having the priveledge or responding on his website...

I'm not defending either Outsurance or Hello Peter, however a very large number of South Africas top corporates have been listed as those who respond. Furthermore Hello Peter has been of service to me on more than one occasion. It is amazing how listing a complaint on Hello Peter manages to cut through corporate red tape and get thing's sorted out. I would not like to do business with a company that is not listed as one who responds on this site.
dirtrider Posted August 4, 2008 Share Although it seems very unfair to do this it is in the companies best interest to pay the money and respond especially if a lot of complaints are received . Not doing it can cost your company even more .

Not doing it can cost your company even more . Theres a term for that. "blackmail" Interesting: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/images/icons/icon1.gif HelloPeter is an extortion scam Iwrote to HelloPeter.com today regarding their site when I noticed acouple of disturbing trends. I emailed them twice and they deleted mycomments, but so that all South Africans are well informed on this scamdisguised as a consumer forum, here is the posts they deleted - Thesummary is easy: Please keep in mind that NOT all companies deserve what some peoplewrite on their forum, and that it is a public forum. The problem isthat companies must pay to defend any accusation - even if it is false;HelloPeter makes money from all of these irrespective of the truth! HelloPeter allows anyone to make accusations, but the accused, innocent or not, must then pay HelloPeter to clear their name. Theproblem is that it hurts innocent businesses while HelloPeter turns ablind eye. I can even put bad posts about my competitor, someone I never dealtwith, someone I simply want to annoy, and I will be safe in theknowledge that HelloPeter will not remove or post any statement untilthey pay, now that is extortion. This also brings to the forefront that HelloPeter hardly has any badcomments about themsleves on their own forum - they simply delete them. Here is the 1st post: What the user sees: The aim of this site is .. to increase servicelevels of our suppliers. Any *constructive* criticism about anysupplier is welcome. Compliments are gratefully accepted. ..it isdesigned as a highly sophisticated and economical way for Companies WhoRespond to deliver the service that they profess to provide. What the user do not see or realise: Any user may place a comment about any company on the site, true orfalse as it may be, and as destructive as it may be, it is stillincluded. BUT the company may not defend themsleves (see other user'scomments) unless they have paid a "fee" to do so, in other wordsextortion. What the user does not know: "Companies Who Respond" have paid but "Companies who don't" may notinclude any comment on the site at all, even if they can be proven theinformation is false or unwarranted. What HelloPeter claims: It is about service What the turth is: HelloPeter enrich themselves from the accusationsplaced on this site, and then make the "users" feel they havebenefited. There already exists companies that deal with theseproblems-Advertising Authority (free), banking and insurance watchdogs, and many more unbiased channels. The 2nd Post was short and "watered down" version in case it wassomething in the post iteself, it simply mentioned that the orignalpost was removed, that HelloPeter charges for innecent companies toreply, and that it may amount to extortion. It was removed within 3minutes. Not very unbiased, is it? Extortion? Definately. Time for thelaw to take notice. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?s=7e9b6a45b24687dcda9ba17ee1e22511&t=66352

porky Posted August 4, 2008 Share The problem with helopeter is its all unverified, and usually quite "padded" to suit the complainant. There are lots of companies who wont reply on this site, I dont think we should be second guessing their motives based on the fact they may prefer to deal with issues in another manner. I have used hellopeter to complain, and even though the company was listed as not responding, someone got in touch with and resolved my issue.
