fatcyclist Posted February 22, 2006 Share Anyone have experience with these pedals? I have a set of Look 247's on the road bike, and Look PP206's on the track bike and have TERRIBLE cleat squeek. Not even new cleats sorted it out. Using SIDI shoes. I'm looking at Time pedals & cleats. Anyone have bad experiences with them? (please, no tips on curing cleat squeek or advice on Speedplay, Shimano or any other pedalssmileys/smiley36.gif)
Spinnekop Posted February 22, 2006 Share Have the RXE's I think. Wont be dissapointed. Very nice. No squeeks. Nothing. Big contact area. TIME.....Crux has them on all his bikes. Only one bearing went.....but then again I will "go" under that presure as well! smileys/smiley17.gif

WorcesterWheelers Posted February 22, 2006 Share I can also recommend the TIME pedals.Of coarse, being a complete WEIGHT WEENIE smileys/smiley1.gifsmileys/smiley1.gif, I have the Ti / Carbon pedals. The new cleats, are also compatable with the previous Time Impact pedals, so perhaps you can get a set of those secondhand for your track bike, so you can use the same set of shoes on both bikes. Velouria Posted February 22, 2006 Share I have the older Time Impact pedals, and I love them. I do get a little cleat squeek every now and then, but I love the pedals/cleats. I also used to ride Look pedals, and Time is leaps ahead! DieselnDust
Underachiever Posted February 22, 2006 Share I have done 4700 km on my RXS's. Nice pedals, but worse quality that my old Time Criteriums that have seen more than 12000 km. They RXS's already have some bearing play. Perhaps this can be adjusted back to normal?Otherwise no problems.

Been through all the iterations of the design and they're still ahead of the curve. If you can find the RXS it will last you forever. The base plate on top of the pedal is replacable if it gets worn to smithers. The Impact cleats are compatible but the RXS cleat isn't as compatible with the Impact pedal. Each set I've had has lasted well over 15,000km before needing attention. My Xpresso's are sittting just shy of 25,000km and still going. I'll get the Xpro 10 in the new year. If you can find the Mavic branded Xpresso 8 they're great value. they were selling for under R1000 inclcleats

UPDATE.....I still have the same pedals, same bike, and mileage is now at 71000km. Still going strong. I have the same model pedals on my racing bike, and a spare set in the cupboard. Spare set of cleats too. I wouldn't be changing soon, and will gladly buy another set if I can find them. DieselnDust
