Captain Slow Posted February 16, 2009 Share With the recent & tragic deaths of Craig & Colin, I feel the need to stress that we, as cyclists, need to make our ride & or commute safer for ourselves. It will be years before legislation and motorists minds are changed in order to protect precious lives. WE NEED TO MAKE OURSELVES MORE VISIBLE AND STOP WORRYING WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY THINK OF OUR ATTIRE AND EQUIPMENT!!! Wear bright clothes and purchase and wear a Safety Vest. If you no not know where to purcahse a vest, please contact me. Purchase a Cateye LD1000 rear tail light. This light was specifically designed for daytime use and you will be more visible out there (Cool Heat are the ditributers of Cateye). Please guys, it's not ONLY about YOU!! What about your loved one's, Your wife, your husband, kids parents etc. STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE WILL SAY & become safer out there. May the Lord protect each & everyone of you as you ride or commute out there!! GOD BLESS!!Captain Slow2009-02-16 01:20:
jmaccelari Posted February 16, 2009 Share The problem in both cases was the guys were visible and riding on the left on single file, but still got hit? Why. 'cos in SA, if I'm in a bigger vehicle than you, I don't give a sh*t about you on the road, 'cos if anything happens you are the one that'll get hurt - not me. Yes, you are right, but most "accidents" (I prefer to call them "murders") occur because of intolerance. We need laws to protect more vulnerable road users and the will of the authorities to enforce these laws. Not just sitting behind speed trap cameras making money... Captain Slow Posted February 16, 2009 Share 'It will be years before legislation and motorists minds are changed in order to protect precious lives.' As I said, it is up to us to ensure our own safety & we have to lobby to have our rights upheld!!
