  1. Just looking at google maps, a large chunk of it can be done on gravel if you are willing to zig-zag across the Free State. Sounds like it could be a great trip though! Let us know what routes you decide on and how it goes!
  2. Just the one item on the list 1. Shimano M530 Pedals http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-pdm-530-pedal
  3. I'm planning on doing it but still need to register. Did the 15km Jacaranda Off The Beaten Track event this past weekend which was great fun and also my first race, might do another 10/15km event before the 22km JUMA, but for now JUMA is the next big one.
  4. Rode this earlier as my first race, the 15km event. My take: - Well organised but very congested for the first part often having to get off the bike and wait in the queue around certain parts of the track, especially where the 5km event shared parts of the track. - Pretty quick for the most part with a couple treacherous sections, I saw one lady being stretchered away. I hope she is okay, apparently she broke her leg. - Overall a good vibe, nice medal and bike wash area was quick and efficient.
  5. Thanks, I think I have struck gold here, very quick replies and some great insight! Thanks for the offer, will let you know if I need the help!
  6. Not a bad idea, perhaps I will take it elsewhere so that I can actually see how it is done. The bike I bought is a Silverback Spectra Comp, which comes with Maxxis Sphinx tyres. Compatible? Thanks for the advice!
  7. I got a Silverback Spectra Comp 29er. The tyres that it comes with are Maxxis Sphinx which seem to be OEM wheels as I cant find any other info on them. The guy at the shop said though that the sidewalls are thin. So I would assume for R1500 it would include two new tyres, but I will make sure closer to the time. I went into one other shop, and they also wanted R1500 for a conversion, but again, I assume that would be with tyres? Bell Helmets any good? For this reason alone I am almost tempted to just do the conversion upfront, I might as well spend the couple bucks that this would all cost towards the conversion. Just trying to figure out if R1500 is a rip off or not. Also, need to find out whether doing the conversion myself is an option on the stock standard tyres.
  8. What would I be looking for to check if the tyres are tubeless ready? If they are ready, what's a fair price for the conversion then? I'll take a look at the YouTube vids, if it isn't all that hard, I might just give it a shot myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hi guys, I have placed an order for my first bike and will probably get it next week. Two questions: - I have been told that a tubeless conversion is well worth it and will save me many hours patching tubes. Cycle lab want R1500 to do it (thats where I am getting the bike from). Is it worth it? I didnt ask at first, but does that include new tires or do they keep the stock ones and just remove the tube and do the rest of the conversion? - Are Mr Price Sport helmets and shorts any good? They are a lot cheaper than cycle lab and even sportsmans warehouse, but I have no idea of the quality.
