  1. I received my masks and they work great. They breath better than a buff and they keep their shape away from your mouth so don't give you that waterboarding affect. They're also super comfy to wear...oh and only really minimal glasses fogging.
  2. I don’t think the skills park is members only. https://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/trails/hoogekraal/ “The trail consists of a main loop of the Hoogekraal farm of 8.5 km, with various specifically built trails feeding off and returning to the main loop, as well as the loop of the Welvergenoegd trails that also feeds off and returns to the main loop, giving you a total ride of 24km on the two farms You start at the car park and warm up with a gentle climb up the dirt roads, past the skills park below the blue gum trees. Either pop in here for a warm up of the skills you will be needing for your trail ride, or carry on past, where you will descend into the Puff Adder single track climb.” “Payment terms: R60 at the trail centre honesty box at Hoogekraal or any of the Snapscan/Zapper facilities at Hoogekraal, Welvergenoegd or Fair Cape gives you full access to the Hoogekraal/Welvergenoegd and Fair Cape Trails. Please pay before you ride and retain proof of purchase on you. “Facilities Bike shop and repairs at Hoogekraal parking lot (Black Sheep Bikes) Delicious coffee at Bike shop at Hoogekraal parking lot Clean ablution facilities at Hoogekraal parking lot Magnificent skills park at Hoogekraal catering for all types of skill” As far as I know the only trail besides the corridors and traverses is the Klipheuwel trail that’s only for members.
  3. No, they’re 2 different things. From the club site Corridor Section: https://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/trails/green-corridor/ Protea Hotel to D’Aria This corridor links the Protea Hotel at Jip de Jager road to D’Aria and Bloemendal. The Eastern entrance/exit is at the entrance to Majik Forest and traverses to the Western entrance/exit at D’Aria via Altydgedacht. From here follow the marked route through to D’Aria to Bloemendal. Please note that the loop around the D’Aria dam back to Bloemendal is open to non members, provided you obtain a valid day licence at Bloemendal
  4. I’ve eyed those rocks and wondered whether they could be turned into a sessionable little bit of tech...
  5. From the Club Website: “As you exit the B Spot, you can either head straight up the Bloemendal loop via the dirt road climb to the Majik Forest gate, or you can turn left into D’Aria for a scenic loop of D’Aria and back into Bloemendal. For members only, you also get access to the Protea Hotel corridor via the D’Aria loop.” “Non members pay R50 for adults and R30 for children. Please pay at the Biosport shop counter, or at any of the Snapscan facilities available at the trail centre. Please pay before you ride and retain proof of purchase on you. This payment only allows access to the Bloemendal, D’Aria and Hillcrest trails and does not allow you to ride or access any of the adjacent farms trails.” The D’Aria loop is for members and paying visitors (just please follow the direction of the loop!). The Protea corridor itself (from Protea Hotel to where it joins D’Aria at the dam) is Members only (and only that part is 2 way traffic) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Tough because of gravel bike or tyres? Anything resembling those conditions on the Tygerberg MTB trails? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Nothing technical, except for that stupid piece of single track right near the end next to the road back to town... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi...I did the 50 Miler last year and I'm signed up for the 100 Miler this year. This will be my first 100 Miler, so going for the finish and anything else is a bonus! How much tougher is the 100 vs the 50? Also - would you run MTB tyres or CycloCross/Gravel 35mm tyres on the MTB for the 100?
  9. Always worth the climb for the view. More so at sunset. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Agree it was a super well organised race, but you’re right that they didn’t promote it very well this year. The race itself was my first one and I found it very tough, no free miles. The wind was nasty in places and the rocks and sand and growth made for constant concentration. I had 3 little spills: hit a rock on the overgrown centre of the jeep track and ended up sitting there in a bush, had a slow motion slide on one of the rocky downhill corners that I just toppled over on and finally got caught in a huge sandpit and ended up in a ditch. Nothing serious though.
  11. Just “tested” this function on my Edge 520 this evening. Wandered a little wide coming down Majik and had a little closer inspection of the trail conditions. Garmin did the Alerting thing as appropriate. No false alarms though on any other rides so far. Agree on the higher grade question, double negative question to cancel the cancellation of the cancelled emergency call or whatever...maybe a good check for head trauma?! [emoji849]
  12. Last trip via the Hoogelegen Green Belt between Meerendal and Contermanskloof as it’s closing by this Friday. You can just see the new green corridor (taped off until Friday) on the left.
  13. Spes Bona road? I have wondered about that sign too...
  14. First stop at the top of Dorsberg this evening
