Event Name: De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience When: 27 September 2019 - 29 September 2019 Where: De Hoop Collection, Western Cape Category: MTB The 2019 De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience is set to take place from the 27th to the 29th of September. Mountain bikers are encouraged to bring their families along for the adventure. The De Hoop Collection offers not only amazing food, luxury accommodation upgrades and activities throughout the weekend; but also provides the close encounter wildlife viewing for which the nature reserve has become famous. On the bike riders can gear up for days of 68, 62 and 50 kilometres in length with the terrain offering minimal meters of climbing – but the climbing there is, is not to be underestimated. The 2019 event will also see the launch of an exciting new one day race: The De Hoop XCM. Entrants to the De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience will have the option to ride the ultra-marathon one day event, on Saturday the 28th of September, or the 62 kilometre long standard Stage 2. With the stage event focusing on rider experience and encouraging participants to slow down, take photos and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the area – the introduction of the one day race allows the competitive at heart to race for a day. Event Name: Trans Baviaans Repeat When: 17 August 2019 - 18 August 2019 Where: Willowmore, Eastern Cape Category: MTB The 16th edition of the Trans Baviaans 24 hour mountain bike Race and Repeat will take place on Saturday the 10th and Saturday the 17th of August 2019 respectively. The event entries will once again be capped at 1 250 riders per event and riders will be able to take part in teams of 2, 3 or 4. Entries to the iconic events will open on the 3rd, for the Race, and the 4th, for the Repeat, of December 2018. Entrants are encouraged to book accommodation in Willowmore as soon as possible as the village can only accommodate a limited number of visitors and the closest locations to the start line, at the church hall, fill up fast.
