  1. Two Kickr Cores, two in the bin, both lasted 3 years, often used, then popped, unrepairable. Both times it was the motherboard. Replaced with a Tacx, outlasting the Core's so far. This is my objective reality, nothing emotional. Love Wahoo products, HR belt lasting much longer than any of my previous Garmin belts.
  2. Front only lasted 3 months till the first rain ride but was great while it lasted. Rear survived.
  3. The interview is in two parts. Part 1 - The period leading up to Raceday. Part 2. Raceday and advise on how to develop the skills to ride an Olympic MTB course.
  4. Sticky draft. Awfully annoying. We ride WTRL TTT every Thu and the lead rider has to sit up and soft pedal to let the next turn come past, else he effectively blocks. If you are next at 85-90% HR and the leader doesn't sit up, you not getting past ever. You'll need to go probably 20% harder to get past. As I said, very annoying. Even worse is when you're in a small group, passing another small group and you get stuck while the others go past and open a gap. Life in the "virtual fast lane" issues.
  5. UCI & ASO couldn't care less who falls, wins, loses, finishes, ends up in hospital ... they don't work for the riders, they work for sponsors and as long as the sponsors get their share of exposure, UCI & ASO get noddy badges on their scorecards. Much like gladiators, they don't care if the lion or the gladiator wins, they sell human drama.
  6. IMHO biggest danger to the riders after the motorbikes ... the team directors. Only reason Astana would ride ahead ... team instructions! Then don't get me started om how the directors are driving and weaving between the riders. Riders really are just chess pieces for the directors to get sponsor exposure. Fact. <rant off>
  7. You called it during Dauphine! Made complete sense. INHO really smart team management by Ineos. From a sponsor perspective, biggest race of the year in cycling and biggest sponsor exposure. Sponsors need media images of a rider train sitting on the front of the peloton, stage wins, jerseys, podiums, etc. At the Dauphine, Jumbo was that team, not Ineos. With this team they will most likely get more positive media exposure. Furthermore, Bernal, Sivakov & Carapaz are all Top 10 candidates for Plan B, C if Bernal runs into difficulty. Jumbo would have preferred C&G at the tour.
  8. 2020. The year when the twenty somethings took over from the thirty somethings and from what we're seeing, the future is bright. Salute to the old boys club, thanks for the memories.
  9. Allow me to dream for a second. <dream on> Froome in the break today, he's far enough back to be allowed to go, then attacking the break with 50km to go and soloing to stage victory, Giro 2018 style, salvaging his all but lost chance to make Ineos team for TDF 2020. <dream off> The way the last few weeks in the peloton have played out, little will surprise me.
  10. Smart call. As much as it hurts to say, there's nothing for Froome to gain in this TDF and on current form he can't contribute much to the team either. Said with the greatest of admiration and respect. No ways Froome will drop time like he did last two weeks if he had the ability to fight up front, never. He won races leading up to TDF on all his wins. never mind do domestic duties and dropping off. Apart from that, there's something missing in this Ineos team, no sign of the cohesion from the past and "sacrificing themselves for the team leader". Even today, Sivakov rode off into the distance without Bernal, never seen that with Ineos/Sky before, leaving a leader behind. Ineos have not rallied behind Bernal the way they have rallied around other leaders in the past and he can't win TDF without the team behind him. TDF is 2 weeks away, what we're seeing is what they got. No time for games any longer, these races are to build team confidence and tweak riding roles, to gain authority in the peloton. Ineos have problems and it's really painful to watch. Would be delighted if they prove me wrong.
  11. Sad news. Ride there once or twice a week. Lately the park has become "over run" by hikers, whom off course are as entitled as anyone to enjoy the trails. As has been mentioned on weekends I estimate over a thousand visitors with parking flowing out into the street, we go early or not at all to miss the traffic. In summer it's going to explode. Whist the trails are superb, the venue has become a general outdoor and entertainment venue and the bike shop and cycling, which used to be the primary attractions, have faded into a secondary attraction. The chaps had a passion for the trails, not sure who will nurture them now. Hope it works out for all parties, they created a jewel in the suburbs.
  12. Sounds right. I had same query with Vitality. Family spend capped at R4000 in one month x 30% = R1200. So for R18000 spend, you will still get max R1200 back (R4000 capped x 30%).
  13. "16th of March 2020 it was R16.63 to 1$" 7 June 2020 USDZAR R16.86... when are you expecting the next batch to land :-)
  14. Any clarity on why a legal firm has been appointed to represent Nic? Has a case been opened by one of the parties?
  15. Not sure if this is 100% correct. I think the OTF cable only applies to older or some Garmin units. I have an Edge 810 and it can recharge using a mini-usb from a power bank while riding/racing without resetting. Have done it on several occasions for races longer than 14 hours (which is the max I can get on the 810).
