  1. I really enjoyed the coverage the year it was in Pretoria. Live streaming the attacks up Tom Jenkins with the crowds lining the side of the road was amazing, but since then there has not been proper coverage. Way to far to make the trip to go and watch for me, will see the results after the race most likely.
  2. I think the value is there, full road closure and an excuse to take a trip to Cape Town and do a scenic ride around it. But I suspect that for me and many others it will just not fit into the budget this year. Would rather spend the tavel and entry money to do several races and rides locally.
  3. Followed link in the update mail from this morning, https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/vitality-fitness-updates
  4. The more interesting update seems like using VO2 Max from your watch instead of a fitness test for bonus points. That table is sure to spark some debate.
  5. It should be automatic, if you do not ask for it again the next year according to the rules. But you can just ask their support and they switch you back, happens in a few days.
  6. I have done SBR and Amashova decending at silly speeds on Gatorskins in the dry, no issues to speak of. But once the road got wet I slid out and sat on my ass next to the road. So looking forward to these if they are that much better. On a side note my previous Gatorskins I had to finally bin after looking like this after 947. Still not sure what happened there, but still holding pressure.
  7. Those routes also open up the possibility of the short route finishing the same place as the long route if I am reading the map correctly. Just cros over where the long route comes back?
  8. Great, once my Gatorskins die I will be upgrading to the Pirellis. Now the question best place to get them? I cannot see that any local shops stock them (Also in PE), takealot seems like the cheapest online option currently.
  9. I have not had any punctures since fitting my Gatorskins, but the grip in the wet is truly terrifying. @The Ouzo, have you tried the Pirellis in the wet yet?
  10. Only one purchase from AliExpress so far, but was a painless process. Paid and shipped in the same week, then took about 2 Months to clear customs and get to my local post office. Paid some duties and got my light easily. Might have been lucky, but still would not trust SAPO with money I am not okay to lose.
  11. There is no requirement for a speedometer on a bicycle as far as I aware. So how can you be expected to keep to a limit, when you have no idea what your speed is? Also no number plate or ID on any bicycle will make it hard to send any fine in the mail, or even ID you when stopped. So even if it technically looks like bicycles have to follow the speed limit, practically not much can be done if you are over it.
  12. Not sure that it is working for me, it gives me a summary of my Garmin and Strava activities, then end the text box with: And nothing after that. Should it be doing something else?
  13. It is in the terms and conditions, but I have also just had it active since applying.
  14. They introduced a free vitality banking account when they moved the travel benefits to the bank side after the airline collapse fiasco. So if you are a vitality member you can create an account for free in the app, and access the miles, discounts etc that way. Another hoop to jump through, but not using the account for anything else, and not costing me anything.
