  1. Somewhat off topic, but any opinions on etiquette of wearing road helmets on the MTB and vice versa? One can obviously wear what you want, but find the difference quite interesting. Ride MTB but not a fan of the duckbill trail helmets and prefer the more sleek look of a road helmet.
  2. Thanks, Jacques! Helps a lot. I have a mate who is 180 and rode a medium Merida, but had to go to the large Cypher so inclined to think a XL might work best for me as well. Going back this arvo for fit on XL, will keep you posted 🤞
  3. I did actually, and the large does seem right, but I sit higher on my Giant which makes me wonder. Guess just geometry that is different.
  4. Anybody shed some light on the sizing of the frame? Currently on a Giant Anthem Large and looking at the Titan. I am 182 but sense the Titan feels every so slightly a bit smaller...
  5. Hi Guys I travel for work to the States quite often and want to purchase an e-bike to use when I am over there. Bike rentals extremely expensive so want to purchase a second hand bike to keep there. Dont want to break the bank, but really struggle to find good second hand/demo options. Does anybody maybe have a contact on that side that I can talk to? Tried Craig's List, but would prefer to buy from outlet so that I can organise shipping etc. Based in Greenville, SC. Thank you in advance.
  6. Skubarra, think that is what dissapointed me most - that many who was frustrated about mix-up did not comment on FB as we expected organisers to maybe just own up and say look sorry our bad. But nothing. Another element that also contributes is the use of parents and volunteers as marhsalls. Selfless dedication and kudos to them, but they dont know the routes so they just stand and wave the flag like a good EPWP worker should.
  7. I reached out to the organisers last week to ask about the coordinates. Was told that they cannot share as it is on private land. Thought it a bit strange, but could understand the logic. Saturday morning, about 12 of us broke away early and within first 5kms, guys that were behind us all of a sudden appeared in front so there was some confusion about the route from the get go. Front two guys sped away, and the rest stuck together until about 20kms when we realised we going to head down into Bloemendaler which was completely opposite way as initial route description. As Sidmouth pointed out, we were suppose to have continued straight at WP2. The Marshall however without a whim of doubt directed us the opposite way. We realised its a lost cause and headed down towards Tygervalley road only to then run into the 45kms riders heading up. What a mess. Took Tygervalley Road back to the school for a cool 27km ride. Human error happens so not a train smash. Situation was however a bit disappointing - it was the first race in a while, was an official seeding event, cost R310. Race Office was very nice about it (not their fault), but Racetec officials were their unfriendly self when asked how the situation will be handled as we did not want to compromise seeding. Race Office said that maybe they should have shared the coordinates. Organisers posted results later on Saturday without any word about mix-up. Sadly, this is not the first time there has been confusion on the route for this event. Beautiful ride, stunning trails, but organisation can improve.
  8. oh darn! hehe thank you anyway guys! Much appreciated! Last one please: https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/first-ascent-mens-speed-tri-suit
  9. Guys, looking for a pair of replacement rims on my Giant Anthem 2. Currently running Giant XC-1 29 Wheelset, 29", Tubeless Ready, 21mm Inner Width. Nasty knock on back wheel so just looking for something like-4-like please.
  10. Thanks for the comments gents. Either way, I will have to fork out for either freehub or new cassette. The Eagle however in top nick so would prefer to keep it. Heading on over to our local Giant workshop as well later and they said they can maybe make a plan so will see and keep you guys posted.
  11. Apologies gents, it was clear in my head Updated accordingly! Had a look at various freehubs, but quite expensive! As Captain indicated, Sunrace defs an option, but new freehub would probably still be cheaper.
  12. Friendly people. Bought XX1 Eagle groupset off a friend and want to put it on my Giant Anthem. New x12 cassette doesn't fit my current Shimano SLX hub (Giant Tracker Boost, 12x148) so require new freehub. Any recommendations that dont break the bank? My LBS is sorting me out, but thought it always good to get opinion from other hubbers. Expand the knowledge and what not.
