Event Name: Ride The Karoo | 100 Miler When: 19 February 2021 - 20 February 2021 Where: Lormar Endurance, Eastern Cape Category: MTB Ride The Karoo on a journey of 160km or 80km through the beautiful Sneeuberg region experiencing wildlife, water point stops like no other in the quaint village of Nieu Bethesda to typical windpomp scenes along the way and back to Fairview farm. 2021 presents a switch back in the route, doing the route in reverse. Ride the Karoo presents a weekend experience where you will spend two nights at Fairview under the Karoo stars and be treated to a Karoo braai, fresh farm bread, condensedmilk coffee, koeksisters & craft beer. The Karoo and its people truly show in the food! ROUTE DETAILS: 2021 Presents a switch back year, doing the route in reverse. Ride The Karoo’s 100 miler (160km) heads out on a combination of smooth jeeptracks and district roads. Riders will be welcomed at their first water point at 34km before gradually going up in elevation. After the 2nd water point, riders will enjoy the well deserved downhill through Sneeuberg Nature reserve heading mostly downhill to the quaint village of Nieu Bethesda. Here they will be greeted by the third and main water point on the day. Here riders will be treated to ice cold, locally made ginger beer and numerous bites to fuel them for the second half of the ride. As riders head out of Nieu Bethesda to complete the other half of their ride, they will head up and past the beautiful Compassberg. Riders will have 5 well stocked water points to fuel up along the way with 3 additional self-help water stations. Ride The Karoo’s 50 miler (80km) ride also head out along the same route as the 100 milers but take a short cut at about 53km into their ride to join in on the second half of the long route, passing local farms and numerous wildlife scenes along the way. The 50 miler ride will have two well stocked water points on the route with two self-help water stations to refuel. Go to Event Page

Experience authentic Karoo hospitality with braais, fresh farm bread, condensedmilk coffee, koeksisters & craft beer amidst picturesque sunsets. The event is limited to 60 riders ensuring exclusivity. Participants will ride through its well-known apple and pear orchards and experience Elgin’s high-quality, cool climate wines. Participants will explore 3-days of scenic riding through fynbos, apple & pear orchards, indigenous forests and vineyards. Ride the Cape is all about offering guests an exclusive and unique off the beaten path experience. WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR ENTRY? All riders receive a unique and high quality Ride the Cape garment. All event meals from Friday lunch to Sunday lunch are included in your entry. All drinks including craft gin, beer and wine are complimentary. 2-Nights of "glamping" accommodation underneath pine trees. Expect brilliant live entertainment throughout the weekend to further set the mood. Each rider receives a goody bag at registration along with a ride guide with all the need-to-knows. Riders get to enjoy 3 days of exclusively selected routes, some of it only allowed to be ridden during the event. Staffed water points serving everything from freshly brewed coffee to pancakes! Assistance vehicle at designated waterpoints. Participants will be surprised by off the beaten path refreshments stops along the way. ROUTE DETAILS Ride The Cape is a riding & culinary experience through the beautiful Elgin Valley. Participants will ride through its well-known apple and pear orchards as well as the picturesque vineyards. These 3 days of scenic riding will go through the Lebanon forest, Paul Cluver Trails and around the beautiful Eikenhof dam. Surprise water point stops serving everything from warm pancakes, freshly brewed coffee to fruit and more at off the beaten path places.
