  1. That is your democratic right. But think about how many first time offenders then go on to be repeat offenders because they get away with it - even if they are caught. Oscar threatens another well known public figure, in public, and gets away with it. He then discharges a firearm in public (twice, apparently) and gets away with it. A cowboy is born. Then Reeva happens. If he was prosecuted and his firearms confiscated, instead of his earlier offences being swept under the carpet, Reeva would perhaps still be alive. Who knows. But he most certainly did not rehabilitate himself, due to lack of action by authorities on previous offences, just because he is the golden boy of Paralympic sport. One example.
  2. That's what the tracking companies should be paid to do, not so?
  3. But all philosophy aside, is there seriously no-one on this Hub that can design a tracking device that can be fit inside a bicycles tubing? If I was an electronics ou, I would be a multi millionaire by now!!! Or has it been done?...
  4. I poep in the street EVEN IF people are around - just to see their reactions. It still isn't against the law, so I am taking advantage while I can. But when we emigrate, I will start to take pills for my flatulence, because the reason I am leaving is to live in a law abiding society - even if it is perceived as a "police state", and if I want that, then I have to be that. Its starts with me. I stopped skipping the red traffic lights a few years back, as I realised I really have no right to complain if I do the very thing I complain about. I am fairly certain there is plenty of crime in China - I just saw a peaceful society that gets on with it and produces effectively, even though there are millions more poor and potential criminals over there. Whether its just a more civilised and evolved ethic and society or the threat of death penalty, I am not 100% certain. But even though people are poor, they all seemed to work in some manner. And the locals I was in contact with did not have any of the complaints and fears that I hear from our SA citizens, regardless of race, colour or creed. Its much harder over there, as their population is so huge, but people take responsibility for themselves and their lot in life, and don't always find someone else or something else to blame for not being privileged. Unlike most Saffa's (even me - but I am working on that)
  5. Pretty safe - been there, the people are great. Great country, if you can get past the communism. The fact that YOU can't fart in the streets there(or in Thailand, or Vietnam, or Australia) means NOBODY farts in the streets there. Its just a little fart , right? My democratic right! Well its just a little smoking in a public place, right? And its just a little littering, right? And its just a little drunk and disorderly in public right? And then its just a little argument with a person whose opinion differs from mine right? And its just a little scuffle with person whose opinion differs from mine, right? And its just a little assault of aforementioned person right? And its just a little stabbing of the person who doesn't agree with me, right? And Its just a little murder/manslaughter of that incorrigible idiot who just doesn't agree with me, right? And while I am here, its just a little rape of his wife while I am at it - I mean, that's no worse than the murder, right? You let small things, that really aren't OK, go unpunished and pretty soon you are letting the bigger crimes become trivialised too. This is EXACTLY what has happened in SA! But since we ALL break the speed limit - and its convenient, and we ALL throw our cigarette butts out the car window - and its convenient- and we ALL have crossed over that red traffic light late at night - because there was no traffic and it was safe to do so, and we ALL have committed the small crimes at some point in our lives, we think its "not so bad" and "what could it hurt". And THAT is where the indifference and apathy toward a law abiding society begins, unfortunately.
  6. Philosophy and humanity doesn't work. In China 55 crimes are eligible for the death penalty. Because with large populations comes massive crime potential. And people respect the law there! Only 1 deterrant works - FEAR. And until criminals or potential criminals are fearful of the consequences of their actions in this country again, I am afraid my friends, there is NO hope, no matter how positive your attitude, or how great you think SA is. Not all of us live on another plane of existence in gilded cages, in security estates. The solution starts with the government of the day, but since they are committed to creating employment rather than fight crime, for ALL the citizens who voted them into power, including the thieves, murderers, rapists, fraudsters, corrupt public officials, reckless taxi drivers etc, etc, etc ad nauseum, we are all fighting a battle we cannot win. Vote them out??? NOT A CHANCE!!!! We had one chance at free and fair elections, and that was in 1994 - its fixed from now on - ANC will rule for 200 years, just like Zanu PF. Check out the list below - and if you are able, start looking at other options - I was the biggest naysayer to emigration in '94-'96 when all my mates left, and 20 years of trying to be positive and trying make a contribution has only gotten my family and I robbed, and beaten, and mugged and assaulted and screwed in the workplace, and we now live in fear and uncertainty everyday. 8. I don't ever want to hear about your balls again, Ed. EVER.
  9. Grow some "cajones" and hawk a loogie! You pink silk blouse you! Or Deselex.
  10. No "minification" due to back vertex distance of lenses, and induced prismatic effect due to variation from eyes vertex rotation and the back curve of the lens. Also a fan of contacts for sport - BUT ONLY if they are disposable soft lenses.
  11. Cheap solutions not recommended. Optician, over and out.
  12. If you're marketing a product, and something like that happens again, just say "Well if your best friend trusts me THIS much, maybe you could too?"....
  13. Sitting in a hotel room looking at your bike? What are you made of Dispirin?
