  1. I have had a Kickr for 1.5 years now and has been the next level trainer out there for sometime. I have had no problems with the trainer itself, the open API's have opened a world of training options from using it with structured training programs like Todays Plan www.todaysplan.co.za or Trainer Road set in ERG mode set to your FTP, or for some fun Kinomap video's- takes out all the monotony of sitting inside bored. The question almost lies using this trainer, is it more beneficial to do your structured training days (Vo2/Mixup's/FTP test, etc) indoor than out on undulating roads?

  4. Hay Chaps, We totally recommend using a PM with our program's at www.todaysplan.co.za however HR can be just as effective is zones are set correctly. Here is our explaination on power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXF0c3v9Tl8 TodayPlan has some really cool features with Stages like prompting you when your battery is running low along with firmware upgrade prompts. However all PM's will give you a good training platform, as the numbers it is producing will be the numbers you need to hit, given you only train with one type of PM otherwise number will vary slightly between all manufacturers. The most stable I have found is Quarq and still affordable to change battery unlike SRM. Check out TodaysPlan page on training with a PM: http://www.todaysplan.com.au/training-with-power/ Thanks and happy spinning
  5. Hi, I have two (wife and myself) and are certainly worth the money and thus far had no issues with them. I mainly use it in ERG mode with www.todaysplan.co.za workouts, set to my FTP and then complete my planned workout. Occasionally use it with Trainer Road but as I am on a training plan with Todays Plan there Android APP controls the Kickr and keeps me inline with my targeted TSS for the week. Kinomap is cool but no really my think as is more of a fun factor than a structured training workout. Kickr is also great for tapper for a race as can hit exactly the numbers you need to ensure you fresh enough without losing your feel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6aHYMBPsRk
  6. Hay Chaps, If you are wanting full Power & HR analysis look at Today's Plan www.todaysplan.co.za Not only does it offer full structured training plans synced to your Garmin head unit but comprehensive data analysis at less cost than Training Peaks. It’s free to try; no payment or credit card details are required to click get started. Happy Spinning
  7. Hi, I am looking to post this in hope of riding the Cape Epic again. I am 39 yrs old and have been racing oversea (Australia, New Zealand and Canada) for past +-3 years and don’t have the funds to pay the absorbent race fees Kevin requires. I would still dearly love to ride it and am happy to ride a whatever pace the rider requires. I have raced may stage race globally and have the knowledge and accruement to always keep it fun at all times in dark times. I would say I have the capability to do top 50 if needed but happy to do the long 6-7hr day if other rider is at that pace. I totally understand the demands of this race as have completed it 3 times, could offer invaluable insight into getting the most out of the race and pacing over the 8 days along with where and when to put the efforts in. So here is in hope of someones partner bailing and me getting to make a lifelong friend over 8 days. I am in Cape Town and live in Kommetjie so happy to do the last months training side by side everyday, as am not working at the moment so have flexible training times. Happy to send you bike industry references as am a Rocky Mountain ambassador and my Strava or trainingpeaks to see that I am not all talk and have done the miles to race the Epic as the last thing I would want to do is let someone down, as the investment physically and financially is huge beside the family life stress this race bestow’ s. Feel free to call me on 0624787002 or email: paris.basson@hotmail or stalk me on FB: Paris Basson or Strava : Paris Otherwise happy and safe spinning
