  1. Thanks everyone for your replies. I bought mine at a very good price when 4iiii introduced them. I sent my SRAM Rival crank to them for installation. Unfortunately they can only replace if i send my crank to them at my cost. Cost of having SRAM i guess. I am not happy to spend the extra money on a courier . After riding with a PM for a while I have come to the conclusion that i don't really need it when on group rides. I only use it properly when doing interval training on the IDT in winter. So I will submit an insurance claim and hopefully they are happy to give me the cash which would help to buy other gear
  2. My Power Meter has recently stopped working. i have had it since 2015 with no problems at all. I changed the battery twice to make sure that it was not a faulty battery. The APP and my Garmin are not picking it up. Does anyone know if power meters can be repaired or not? Thanks
  3. I have been looking into this while on lockdown and it looks like a very good option for us at the bottom of the food chain (love cycling, ride 2nd hand bikes, wahoo trainer above my pay grade) According to a few reviews SWIFT will recognize it as a power meter. DCRAINMAKER rated the unit very highly and tested it out of curiosity. In his review the difference were very minor. The cost to bring it over using DHL is more than the cost of the unit. If there was a cheaper I would buy one. The bottom of the range model is around R6000. Will continue to find a cheap way to get to SA. Other option of getting to SA is by going on holiday to Thailand. There is a branch in Thailand.
  4. Maybe I am missing something. I can’t separate raid components from mtb components. I am a roadie and won’t ever look for mtb components. I am looking for a road frame and this can separated between road and mtb when searching.
  5. Getting used to the new way of navigating through the new. Great job. Doesn’t need a manual. Really like the review under the ad. Used to be a tedious affair.
  6. The culture of commuting by bicycle is alive and active in Pretoria East. I live on the border of Pretoria East suburbs and Mamelodi township. I travel to work on a narrow side road called Libertas Road and drive at -40km/h because of oncoming commuters cycling towards Menlyn, Garsfontein etc. Travel on Solomon Mahlangu drive and it is the same story. I have witnessed 3 cyclist knocked in the last 12 months. The LIONS in the area often have drives in the area asking for reflective vest, light, tubes, tyres etc. Check out their FB page. That said WHY THE HELL must cycle lanes be built around Menlyn Maine or Sandton for that matter. Is there a bicycle lane from Sandton to Alex. Unless it is for commuters who cannot afford their own vehicle, UBER or taxi fare its a waste of time. Cycling to these areas to use these bicycle lanes does not make sense. Build safe, wide cycle lanes out of the townships to accommodate the people that need them. Cyclist in PTA cycle on the Boschkop Road R25 Bapsfontein area and not in the Menlyn precinct. Commuters need dedicated lanes from townships/suburbs into town then the culture of commuting to work will grow. As SA driving becomes more "Africanised" (people driving on pavements to get to the front/jumping red robots/chaotic 4ways) these lanes need to be minibus proof. I come from PMB and cant imagine anyone cycling on the Edendale Road into town. You will get knocked down. Somebody needs to check if there are still 9 million bicycles in Beijing. It could be that motor vehicles have since taken over
  7. Last night was full moon. Some hubbers turned into werewolves and were howling at the moon
  8. For us who live out of Cape Doctor land entering the CTCC is a gamble. The outcome of the gamble is for the entrants account. I took the gamble in 2009 and 2010 and will not throw the dice again. The shortened race again highlighted the gamble. Should the race have continued and cyclist injured, the organizers would face law suits and and not forgetting angry hubbers posting angry insults at the organizers. It is a beautiful race to do and if I lived in Cape Town I would enter every year cause all it would cost me is race entry. Don't be a sore loser when a gamble does not go your way.
  9. If your Garmin has bluetooth and you have a phone with bluetooth and Garmin connect/strava they communicate with each other. No need to do it manually. Boom
  10. Service service service. South Africans are brand faithful. You will have stand above the rest with regards to service
  11. We have tried most of the local manufactures and could not get them to deliver. ONly excuses excuse and more excuses. Our club chairman sources our kit from Nimblewear and these guys have never ever let us down. Their service is of a such high standard that we really don't mind waiting 6 weeks from order for kit. Chairman sends them a sketch of what we want and pop, next day we have the layout and proper pictures of what we want mailed to us. Consignment and quality always delivered as promised. Not everything from the east is cheap quality. you get what you are willing to pay for. #trustworthyservice
