  1. true, I looked at emirates to New Zealand but it is like 20hours extra flight through Dubai. So i chose to fly Qantas because it is 16 hours vs 36 hours. I might just be forced to buy a new bike there
  2. this is a Qantas thread so was hoping someone knew for Qantas specific.
  3. thanks, I had a look and for excess baggage it sates 14K if i take another 25kg bag / bike. Sounds excessive, will try call them tomorrow and update the thread.
  4. I know this is an old thread but info still seems the same. Is the 7kg additional to the 30 you can check in or is it 23kg check in and 7 carry on? Does anyone know what it would cost to take the bike and pay for it if you over the checked in allowance?
  5. Happened to mine also, they replaced it with a TB 3. I didn't really complain much :-)
  6. Stans race may be expensive but you get what you pay for. Even on road tires. Couldn't get Maxxis Rambler rear tire to hold air with 2 other sealants only Stans Race did the trick, 3 weeks and counting since I had to top up my pressure.
  7. The Specialized Sawtooth is a very good option and looks great. Unfortunately they were too wide for my frame and i went back to my Maxxis Ramblers. The Ramblers are fast rolling both on and off road and they are extremely light compared to the rest. Pictures arent great I know but atleast will hep to see tyre and thread.
  8. can anyone on this thread confirm if you have managed to successfully run a 34T Oval chain ring on a Tallboy 3 2017?
  9. Thaba trails Blue route is probably your best bet in JHB https://www.facebook.com/thabatrails/?_rdc=1&_rdr
  10. I have the Rapide lever on a Lynne post, works like a charm. R389 https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-ubremote-kit/
  11. Weird how some guys also battled to keep things in. I always ride with 32gi I just couldn't stomach it. Only thing I could keep down was water. Obviously that made me flat, had a couple of Rehidrate but puked around 10-15 times. First time this has ever happened to me, I made no changes to my drinks. I can see I'm not the only one that battled with this, would be Interesting to know why this happens and how to avoid it. Managed to keep a coffee and Jaffe down at cp7 and saw me to the end.
  12. If all goes according to plan we should arrive at CP4 just before 18:00 so lights would need to go into 3 and warm / dry clothes in CP4 Thanks for all the advice, looking forward to this one next week.
  13. Thanks guys, so no specifics in Box 2 and 3?
  14. Hey Guys, Some advice for a first timer on what to pack in the boxes? As i understand it you get 3. CP 2, 3 & 4. I would think lights in CP3 box and warm clothes in 4. What else should I be looking at packing?
  15. Good suggestion but I think this Kenilworth is in the Western Cape. Bit far from us although we do have have few Doc riders that side.
