Found this GEM today.. As good as New late 2017 RX model hardly used. New price R120 000 my price R70 000 negotiable bargain for the riding enthusiast ! https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-road-bikes/centurion/porsche-bike-for-sale-new/1002476734670910323041009
  2. Pieter, how tall are you? I ask because I am 1.87 and although I thoroughly enjoyed riding my old 26er, When I finally bought a 29er, I felt much more confident on it
  3. At 110 kilos you really shouldn't be worried about weight. You should find out which one survived a higher impact test.
  4. Maybe you should ask yourself, "How can I decrease my average speed?" and then do the opposite. I'll give an example: Pedalling slower ---> Opposite is to pedal faster Maybe others can give more suggestions
  5. OP is asking if you can be competitive on something other than a 29er. As a 650b is closer to a 26" than 29er, I believe so
  6. My bad, I see he switched to a 29er for olympics. He did ride a 27.5" the entire year before the games though..
  7. N1NO won olympic gold on a 650b Nuff said
  8. I also started road cycling on a bike found in a tannie's garage, an old Hansom that must have been a 61cm frame. I am 1.88m and it was slightly too big for me but I rode it anyway which was very uncomfortable. My next bike was a 56cm which ended up being slightly too small also resulting in pain across the body as I was too crunched up. Now I ride a 58cm frame which is a perfect fit and I have no pain other than my legs crying for me to stop pedalling. I would suggest you go to a bike shop and ride a 50/52/54 and see which feels the most comfortable. Also remember that as nothing in this world is as it seems, don't expect a 54cm Giant to feel the same as a 54cm Scott
  9. When you empty yours and your wifes bank accounts at the beginning of the month to buy a bike because you don't have enough time to sell your bike
  10. Fun is directly proportional to speed I prefer moving faster than 10km/h
  11. Almost 700 and thousand Randelas
  12. Sounds like someone who realized after 6 months that his build would never materialize and tried to recover the funds. I was there once... It would have been much quicker and easier just to sell the wheels on to someone else.
  13. Drove into Durban yesterday behind this guy. Are Taxis now offering bike transport as an additional service?
