  1. Thanks for the kind words and support all.... An awesome, humbling and almost surreal event. Until next time.... (don't tell my wife!!)
  2. Race report a bit late.. but as Nick says... out now! With video...
  3. A bit late in getting back... but thanks for the support and kind words guys. Much appreciated.
  4. Thanks all for the kind comments and support. Was a great and very fortunate experience. Rob
  5. I have a direct mount front derailleur on my TT bike and at the moment I have a non-round ring running 52 teeth. This BARELY fits at the point of maximum adjusted diameter... (relatively 54/55 teeth). Problem: I want a bigger front chainring... and it will be non-round. It's a personal preference based on my knees, hips, crank lengths, experience, marketing hype and placebo effect... So no opinions on this - thanks. None of the non-rounds fit - and I believe I need an adjuster like the images. This spacer moves the FD backwards, and thus I can get a bigger blade on. I can find some online in the UK but for GBP30... plus shipping, postal inefficiencies etc... I have contacted Rotor directly for the part - no reply yet, but I fear this part may be near R1,000. Any alternative or 'Ghetto' solutions?
  6. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/154999-interview-vintage-leroica-ride-comes-to-south-africa/ And this was announced last week.... I think it will be amazing in Montagu. Ridden Ouberg on a 29er. Going to be an interesting ride on thin tyres!
  7. And if you have nowhere to ride them.... look whats coming to South Africa https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/154999-interview-vintage-leroica-ride-comes-to-south-africa/ Who's in? I saw they had a pretty cool stand at the Cycle Fair yesterday...
  8. A little sortie along the Mozambique coast... fishing rod and fat bike
  9. Lekker - Enjoy DEFINITELY do a tubeless conversion. Took me forever, lots of sealant, some insulation foam plus a few trips to SupaQuick's compressor - def worth it. And get the widest tyres you can. I was on 4.9's and they floated up and over almost everything.
  10. A few off my phone... others on the waterproof happy snapper at home. Best thing about fat tyres? Can make the bike stand by itself for photos!!
  11. Just spent a week riding dunes and beaches in Mozambique on my Fattie... One of Mannie Heymans 9Zero7's... Whilst I still ride it on the Spruit for fun, the beach riding was completely different... Will see if I have a photo...
  12. Was there last night and my understanding that it's not a ridiculously technical/tough course - the distance is enough!! 2,5 days is the organisers estimate of winning time. From that some thoughts: Lance Armstrong.... not UCI sanctioned or WADA sanctioned - yes, code following, but not sanctions. CSA could say no? Considering the prize money is more than the winner gets for Tour de France... no-one has suggested any other genre of cyclists? And some of those guys used to be sharp MTBérs. This is a long distance time-trial... a team of ironmen guys? There are some beasts.... (who can't run...) So Cadel Evans, Andy Starkowicz etc...?
  13. And to clarify - I don't think I'm above the law. I know I should follow the rules, but I value my health more.
