  1. I've been riding a 2019 Trance 2 29er since October - and I have never enjoyed riding as much in my life. The bike is amazing quality, and ride feel. Climbing is brilliant, but takes some getting used to in tight switchbacks. Descending is just flippin awesome - point it and let go. It forgives all my bad decisions and lack of talent!
  2. Totally agree.. day 1 was my first day of proper stage racing ever and it was difficult, cold and wet, but I loved it as well. My bike: not so much. Like everyone else, brakes were trashed, need new chain, lots of strange new noises.. The water points were ok, in my view, I did love the wash and lube service, but I did want more protein type foods like droewors, and maybe those cocao-balls they had at the Houwhoek race.
  3. My first time is going to be memorable.. looks a baptism of rain coming my way! Is it worth getting shoe covers? Snorkel?
  4. Can you put his or other 29" 2.3 tyres on sale please? https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/vittoria-tyre-mtb-barzo-cape-cobra-29x225-tnt
  5. Agree on the finish.. it is a bit of a downer
  6. Lekker race, as always. I thought the vibe was excellent, marshalling was solid, beer at the end is a winner.. but for me two issues to improve for next year - 1. Waterpoints: I did the Long claw 52km, the first stop had bananas and bar ones, the second point had only apples and coke, while the third only Coke - no water available. For a R320 entrance fee I think the organisers can be a little more generous.. or at least tell riders to bring your own sustenance and two water bottles. 2. The race pack is a joke - bath gel and face wash samples, plus an advert for a retirement village.
  7. Yes, exactly. In the US there is a black box warning around tendons but my GP was completely unaware.
  8. Anyone know what the status is with Welvanpas trails? I have heard they may be closed for either harvesting or because of fire damage.
  9. I rode this trail just before Christmas. It's a lovely route, varied, challenging and mostly single track. However, it is filled with duiwelthorns - at the ride end I pulled over 40 from my tyres, and ended up with flats even with sealant doing its best. Needed to hitch back into town.
  10. Ag nee, was starting to look forward to my Chain Reaction order from 3 weeks back .. reading this tells me to only expect the goods next year!
  11. Just got a message from this guy too.. He certainly has a good work ethic
  12. @Jemplayer - it is the shop near the corner of Main and Kenilworth Roads. A few stores down from Cycology - the premium store. This an old school, family bike type of place. Ah, here it is: http://www.cycleteknix.co.za/
  13. Update: I bought one at a store in Kenilworth on sale at R2100. So far, very impressed. Son is chuffed and we are hitting trails daily.
