  1. I want to have those solid disk wheels just for that whoosh sound they make (You know that sound when the Pro's come past you on their 2nd lap .... so awesome) No chance it will make me faster... not with my current level of training but damn that sound would make me smile and feel like Lance on a full dose of EPO. In much the same vain.... I just love the look of an aero bike... so sexy. Will it make me faster? Hell no but boy will I feel good.
  2. https://just-forfun.myshopify.com Jumping on the bandwagon ....
  3. Does anyone know where I could buy one of these? Cyclelab and Cajees do not have at the moment. I believe quite a number of variations so hard to keep stock. The needs to be ready for the weekend so I have a very nervous lady ... (sadly just buying a new bike is not an option at the moment) Have attached a few photo's Thank you in advance
  4. This post ..... You have described pretty much exactly what I have had on my mind since Sunday... I love the PE supporters and volunteers, every single year they make this amazing event into a mind blowing , life changing memory. Thank you PE. I loved the new course, I felt a lot safer on the bike course, even though it was contra flow- the scenery... Wow... No point in trying to use words to describe. Also I get the feeling we don't inconvenience the PE residents as much, the older routes would have trapped them completely... This route just seems a lot more considerate. cutting out that sad lonely part of the run through the varsity ... Double thumbs up...strange though how the vibe on the other end changed... At the turn around were you got your bands, it used to be very festive and noisy... Still support but not as crazy as past years... The one block of flats used to be so raucous... Completely dark this year... Must be a strict new landlord. (Used to be guaranteed at least one or two boobie flashes from the crazy ladies as the race progressed and wine bottles emptied) I was very slow... 14:30 odd... Not disappointed though, I really did not train anywhere enough from December...to much festive food and Easter eggs. One very strange thing though was my swim. My garmin say I did 5.5km... I am normally quite bad with sighting, and I did take forever out there... But how on earth did I manage to mess it up so badly? Granted, I was guided by a few life guards who mentioned I was off to Australia a few times... But 5.5km... Damn. Did anyone manage to swim further than me on Sunday? Anyway, enough rambling, Ironman SA - you guys are fantastic.. Will train smarter next year, learn to swim and be back for number 5
  5. Simply amazing. They are almost finished. Has there been any real publicity around their efforts? I must have been working to hard or just a sleep..... First time I was even aware of the attempt. seems as if very little marketing was done or very little press coverage. Maybe I am been naive , just wish that this was the stuff focused on in the news instead of all the politics, wars and high jinks of the Kardashians .... Incredible human spirit and achievement so far, well done team carocap
  6. I recommend going to this site and reading the reviews.... and then based on your budget, go from there. One of the most detailed sport gadget review sites out there. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/product-reviews
  7. Yes - complete waste of time.... the internet is really the only place you will get info or assistance with regards to Tacx - and the retailers that do stock units, have zero training or product understanding ... without fail, the standard reaction when trying to figure out the differances between a unit, when asking an assistant at a number of the well know shops was for them to start reading the specs off the box........
  8. Yeah.... on the one unit ... the one I got working.. that seems to be the problem., drivers, the new TTS4 got it working again, but maybe reformat laptop could also work.... just such a waste of time that could be used for actual riding. I just have so much invested in the differant race scenarios and software, so have to bite the bullet and stick with Tacx
  9. No problem - responded - you are welcome to it .... hope it helps your project.
  10. I bought a 2nd hand Tacx Fortius VR trainer here on the hub about a year or so ago..... Used it for about a month before it just stopped working after a software update. I tried everything including buying another 2nd hand one, and swapping the various part out trying to figure out which part was broken.... It was beyond my limited brain power.... Could not figure it out lost patience.... And just carried on training on my new 2nd hand one until it too stopped working after about month.... Got grumpy ... Chucked everything into a corner of the garage and wrote them off. Bought a iGenius and that has worked well for the last year or so. On an impulse tried to connect the busted Fortius up to the new Tacx software recently and the "newer" of the Fortuis 2nd hand trainers was identified and useable again.... Bonus!!! The first one is still dead... Picks up the vr control unit but motor and break seem dead still... Anyway, the point of my ramble... If you have an old Tacx trainer that you gave up on... Try connect to new software if you have... Maybe you get lucky... Also if anyone wants to have my original "dead" Fortius to test or try and get working... They are welcome to it.... Just taking up space and annoying me every time I look at it. (Collect from me in Pineslopes / Lonehill) Just as a by the by.... There is zero repair options for Tacx in SA. The bike shop guys are simply going to want to send it off to the wholesaler like The cool heat guys. Who are simply going to charge you out for a new unit of whatever is deemed to be busted (If a little fuse is gone in that there motor unit.... To bad, you are going to have to replace the whole thing).... So if there is an electronic repair person out there.... This could be a business opportunity for you....
  11. Well Done Icecreamman, I really enjoyed and identified with your post. Three years ago that was me you could have been writing about. The body is incredible it will recover. Just super congrats ... It takes massive mental strength to get through those last 3 to 4 hours of pain.
  12. This was an incredible event as always. The swim a little choppy, made the directionally challenged like me struggle.... Headed out to Australia on a number of occasions. Luckily I am not too fast so did not get to far before correcting. Even had a lovely young lady ask me to help her get her wetsuit zip back up at the 3km buoy .... Wow... Normally the only thing I get at buoys is a kick in the face ... That had me smiling for the last stretch. The cycle is tough, you work all the way even when the weather is great, and the weather was great yesterday, the easterly seems to be a standard feature and we just have to suck it up. It is no joke, and harder than the old course, but hey this is supposed to be ironman... Train harder. The run is fantastic, fast, flat and the best supporters you could ever wish for. The PE crowd are quite simply fantastic. There is a hotel on the main drag that seems to attract a younger crowd... 1st run lap they are cheering on with drinks in hand, 2nd run lap they are flirting and making every sweaty old ironman feel like a million bucks... By round three they are daring each other to flash their boobs.... Not sure if any actually do but the humor is really great, and takes your mind off the pain. Love you PE. All in all just an amazing event, worth every cent.
  13. Pfft... you guys are all crazy ……none of these races have been short ! I posted new PB's at both Trirocks because I am a legend and can improve my fitness by thinking about training instead of actually doing it. Please stop spreading this malicious rumour .... you are messing up my bragging rights. In any event did you see how far it was from the Car park to the bike rack??? Surely we should add that onto the total distance?
  14. Thank you Grant, Great response - and helps put a lot in perspective. Please work on your communication. SMS, Email, Social Media... makes it so easy. Sure pre-race is busy, but this is very important, will help with safety, awareness, and ultimately better PR. Well done on pulling this off. Knowing that you invested the money to build the road changes everything – respect.
  15. I think we are all mature enough to understand that the unexpected happens... even the very best event orginisors (and yes I do rate Ironman as the very best I have experienced), will get things wrong or stuff beyond their control disrupts the best laid plans. The issue is how you deal with it... which has been mentioned a few times by a number of people. Stuff like communication, managing expectations and without a doubt ensuring safety for all. I love that we have choice and really do want the Trirock guys to get it right. The more races we have the better for all of us. Lets hope they take note of the issues - I share BigJoe's sentiments, will not be signing up again in a hurry... in fact just went and registered for the Ironman in Durban. Even though it is expensiveI - I know what I will get and with them.
