  1. @ cycling major Let's put this into perspective for you I entered EL in April 2015 bout my bike end April 2015 and did 94.7 in November in 5 hours and was BROKEN but I had set the EL goal and I trained my ass off (literally) and finished it in Jan 2016!!!! Zero to IM 70.3 in 9 months ???????? Set the goal and do it ......... On a side note DBN is c$&@ compared to EL 70.3 EL was totally amazing - awesome vibe DBN I felt like I was in every locals way especially on the run on the beachfront - I was totally over people walking in my way by the end of it! Won't rush back to that event in a hurry flat course or no flat course
  2. Thanks guys Will look into both options and report back here so anyone crazy enough to do what we are doing will have a thread to go to!! We don't want to sell our bikes as they are mostly new and our babies ???? so will try take them with ???????? Bateleur1 you have no idea how fast ???? literally will be from accepting job to flying in 5 weeks ???? think most people will presume we've skipped the country ???? but at least we haven't had time to get cold feet ????
  3. Need some help please...... We are emigrating next month and have 6 bikes to take with us. We don't want to wait for the bikes to be shipped in a container so our options are: Take boxed bikes on plane and book and pay for excess baggage Or Courier them to our family over in the UK to be there for us when we arrive Anybody have experience with either of these options??
  4. Rapha sizing is small My husband usually takes a med and he is in an XL Rapha bib and shirt
  5. Gummibear - thank you for sharing this with us. I too consider myself a decent, strong and competent swimmer but after attempting to swim on Saturday I had made a decision that I would withdraw from the race on the Sunday if the swim was not cancelled. I stood on the side watching the drama that was your swim unfold and I literally had tears in my eyes as I feared the worst watching you all struggle with the power of the sea. I got into a heated debate with someone standing behind me moaning about the cancellation of the swim for us age groupers. You are all total hero's in my eyes for even getting into that water, but the biggest hero of the day without a shadow of a doubt was Pail Wolff!!! Thank you sir for making a very difficult and brave but most importantly RIGHT decision canceling the swim for age groupers. You sir deserve a bells ????????
  6. The bag is a pitiful excuse and I for one as a business owner would not put my name on it at all - the colour for this years DBN is shocking ???????? The shirts - well ya they are crap! For us ladies there is NOTHING ladylike about them - once again SHOCKING!
  7. We giving EL a skip for a few years ......... We are moving overseas in the next few weeks. Anyone here done any 70.3 events in Europe that we need to be training for???
  8. So this is my story Had they have gone ahead with the swim I would have pulled out of the race and I am a swimmer! No frikken way was I getting into that sea with 3000+ other swimmers!! I had an awesome ride (by my standard) but man alive the legs fell off 8km into the run ???? Yoh I had a very long walk to freedom from there! Very disappointed with my overall time but I didn't put in enough time on the run training so I paid for my crime!!! Honestly felt the whole event was a bit flat from registration, to the race brief to the vibe today. Was well organized especially considering the decisions and changes today but generally felt the event fell way short on the gees compared to EL! Dunno maybe it was just me having a hard time?
  9. So who attempted to swim this morning??? I did and I should have missed it - completely broke my confidence couldn't get over the backline at all........ To anyone here that helped me find my free range child on the beach this morning amongst all the wetsuits and chaos - THANK YOU! May you be immensely blessed you really helped and for that I am grateful xx
  10. Ya we went! Glad it wasn't my first race briefing cause I learnt nothing - way more informative in EL. That being said if you don't go tonight you will most prob miss some epic groundbreaking news .........
  11. Momsen all the way!!! Worth the extra money by far - literally changed my boys riding when we bought him one a few years ago. Really good buy as it is built for little bodies, little legs and little hands. Just my 2c worth but I would not look at anything else.
  12. Please all wait for me at the finish so I'm not the only person watching the rubbish trucks working Training was going okish then I got bronchitis and my bronchitis also got bronchitis now I'm in survival mode! Was going to give it a miss but I've just accepted a job ovs so this will be my swan song........ Oh well at least I will get my full money worth and use all the allotted time
  13. Thanks Hennie I don't google I Hub ;-) Is there anyone with experience of these particular forums?
  14. So can anyone tell me if there is a Bike Hub UK or something similar? Some exciting developments afoot in our lives and we need to see if we can get onto some forums there? Help please...........
