  1. We have two Caddy's. A 1.6 commercial that's perfect for transporting 2 people and bikes, and a 7 seater 2.0 TDI short wheel base that's perfect for 3 people and bikes. I had looked for a Maxi at the time, but could not find one in good condition. We are only 3 so its configured with 3 seats 90% of the time, if you need to have more than 3 people with bikes, go for the Maxi, or tow bar and bike rack. Never had a singe issue with either, and the 1.6 has over 200 000Km. Consumption is similar but the TDI is a nicer drive.
  2. Road to no ware. Well Sutherland eventually.
  3. The logistics are challenging, by day 2 there is such a large gap between first and last rider that its impossible to cover everyone. To do so, you would probably have to break the field up into 3 sections with one person dedicated to each third. I was with Erik at one stage and when he headed south towards the front of the race, I went north to try catch riders further down the field. The next challenge is that between Britstown and Sutherland for example, there is 400KM with data coverage 10Km either side Loxton, and 10Km either side of Fraserburg so getting anything out on social media is not easy. I see this as an opportunity for a Dimension Data or Telkom to come on board and sponsor Wi-Fi at the water points, most of these were situated on farms with power and one would assume some form of connectivity.
  4. We discussed this at the race, and although easier, its actually hotter when you ride in 41/43 Deg with no wind, and even worse when you are riding with the wind behind you. There would also be some nasty climbs early on getting out of the Cape.
  5. I chatted to him when his back wheel collapsed on the last climb into Sutherland and told him how the guys on the Hub were rooting for him, he smiled, picked up his bike and started running into town Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
