  1. Hi everyone, Will be off to Europe for a few weeks and currently planning a bike packing trip. Looking at picking up a Canyon Grizl CF SL 6 AXS (Max budget R55k) and touring for 2 weeks. Alternative is to bring my road bike along instead (Cannondale Supersix), save some cash and pick up a solid MTB back in SA. Would need to upgrade my road bike to a compact crank and alu rims. I'm mainly a road rider looking to get into gravel rides and races (based in CT - Dville/Northern Suburbs so have access to a few gravel roads) and maybe a bike packing trip once a year. Not so keen on riding single track (bike handling isn't great) from a MTB perspective but I do enjoy riding dirt roads and the suspension and wider tyres do give me more confidence. If I get a gravel bike, I would primarily use it as a winter road bike given the state of our roads - so more usage on that side. Big thanks for any help and advice.
  2. Hi all, A question for those with Wahoo Kickr's. What's the best budget friendly solution to power the trainer during load shedding? Looking at getting into the solar game but need something to cover me in the meantime. Thanks
  3. Hi fellow Hubbers Was wondering if anyone has any info on the Swift Carbon shop in Cape Town? I went there after my long wait at the expo to find it closed. I'm interested in purchasing an ultravox TI and want to check the bike out in person first.
  4. Anyone have any idea if VAT/Duties will be applied?
  5. Bit of a shame they penalise the 2018 races for the seeding
  6. Any update on this issue? Probably flying with Emirates next week overseas and slightly concerned with my bike bag.
  7. Started in 2A and was going well until I broke two spokes in my rear wheel and a puncture late on ????. The bunches on the road were huge and at one stage in the the bunch behind overtook us. Full road closure should definitely be looked at for next year. Decent vibe as always and a bit thanks to the marshals and volunteers. Also I'm still appalled by the reckless driving by my fellow cyclists on the way to the venue. There's no need to drive way over the speed limit.
  8. Guess I captured some key evidence from Sundays race... Hope you and the bike are alright and recover well. Otherwise I have no problem with Roadies MTB's in the bunch as long as they hold their line and know their limits when it comes to handlebars and gaps. It is a "fun" ride after all.
  9. Hope you're alright man. I use this road all the time on weekends but will now have to find another route to Blouberg. Will keep a look out.
  10. Also had a good time in group P hardly any wind and good chats. Looking forward to the argus next month.
  11. At least the queue is moving faster than your average speed up Vissershok on Saturday
  12. Vissershok can be a nightmare if the southeaster is blowing down the hill. Long live compact cranks and 28 tooth cassettes.
  13. Anyone rolling from the Northern Suburbs? Would like to join this ride.
  14. Hope your friend is ok. I was planning to use this stretch for the first time on Sunday for a ride around the Peninsula but decided to drive to Sea Point and start from there. It's a shame we can't access town safely from the Northern Suburbs
