  1. As others have mentioned, there’s very little adjustability with Brain suspension. The Specialized Suspension Calculator has worked pretty well for me though: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/suspension-calculator/app
  2. It's in pretty poor shape on both sides. Washed out right down to the bedrock in many places with loose gravel that makes it difficult to get traction on the climbs. There's also no clear line anymore. It's definitely rideable on an MTB but you will need to be really careful if you're recovering from a broken collarbone.
  3. Fair enough but they could've at least doubled down on their customer service team who have been able to work remotely all this time if they are that busy. The inaccurate tracking information and not being able to get through to their call centre despite repeated calls everyday is what really grates me. My Ciovita order was shipped during level 5 when they were supposedly less busy as it was an essential item so I would've expected it to have been delivered a month later. On the opposite spectrum, Takealot seem to be getting it right as I placed an order with them late on Sat afternoon and it was delivered on Mon morning which was way ahead of the delivery estimate. I realize it's not a fair comparison as Takealot are vertically integrated, but from a customer's perspective, it does mean that I will rather look for items on Takealot first as I know they will be delivered within the stated timeframe even if the item costs a bit more.
  4. I don't have any beef with CWC as such since they shipped my Kickr on the 19th as promised BUT it's been stuck with Dawn Wing ever since and I'm unable to get through to their call centre and they never respond to email queries. I have the same problem with a Ciovita mask order that was sent through Dawn Wing over a month ago and I still haven't received it yet. This experience will definitely put me off ordering anything in future from an online retailer who I know uses Dawn Wing which includes CWC and Ciovita. They are absolutely useless and it seems like the retailer's attitude is that you're on your own once the order ships.
  5. Sorry to add fuel to the flames but it definitely looks like your dad has been scammed. 10 mins of internet sleuthing found that the Full Cicle Gym Equipment website was only registered on 8 April 2020 and in the terms and conditions on their site they list their registered company number as 'ABN 31 715 334 460' which is in fact an Australian business number registered to a trust that trades as Gray's Health & Fitness Centre. The Ts&Cs on both websites are identical except for the parts where Full Cicle Gym Equipment replaced Gray’s Health & Fitness Pty Ltd with their own name: http://www.fcgymequipments.co.za/terms-and-conditions-of-sale.html https://graysfitness.com.au/terms-and-conditions-of-sale/ Not to mention the other evidence others have already stated above (typo in company name, not answering phone calls, too good to be true selling price, essential service certificate etc) it seems pretty obvious that they've ripped off the content from this Australian website and are using it to scam people. You should definitely lay a charge at the police station ASAP for what it's worth and warn your friends and family. Sadly, the number of scammers trying to take advantage of the pandemic situation will likely increase in the days ahead. The same physical address and contact details are also being used on this safety surgical mask website which is another area which scammers are targeting (PPE). Stay safe people!
  6. I finished the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race in 2018 in a time of 8h:39m (163rd overall). I started in the White Corral which I qualified for after finishing the Silver Rush 50 MTB earlier that year. The race organizers are pretty strict with regards to seeding and won’t consider written motivations or proof of your SA results, so if you are serious about finishing in sub-9, you will need to enter one of the seeding events in the Leadville Race Series. As others have said, what makes the race so tough are the long climbs, the altitude which drains your energy and restricts your breathing, and the unpredictable weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, heatwave etc are all possible in one day). It was a big one to tick off my bucket list and I highly recommend it to everyone. Just make sure that you put in some training at high altitude and arrive a week or two early to acclimatize if possible.
  7. Sure, it's not 100% accurate but in my experience it's pretty darn close and a good starting point for vetting someone. Best to use TrueCaller in addition to other channels like Bike Hub seller ratings, Google search, social media profiles etc. If the person's name and number doesn't appear during any of your searches, over even worse, appears to be linked to somebody else, then you should approach with extreme caution. In over 100 transactions on The Hub (buying and selling), I've never been scammed using a combination of the above methods.
  8. I always do a bit of research before doing a remote deal, especially if they don’t have any seller ratings and there’s a lot of money involved, and I also check to see if the person is registered with TrueCaller. According to TrueCaller this number belongs to “Khimbu Skhawini” which would’ve raised a big red flag if he was posting as AVermaak!!!
  9. I would go with a L frame with a slightly longer stem if necessary (110mm-120mm). I am 193cm (89cm inseam) and fitted a L frame quite comfortably!
  10. I suspect it's a reference to the Velo Life liquidation debacle as they were the distributors at the time but perhaps others might have more insight.
  11. RIP Hannes and condolences to the entire family. Very sad news indeed.
  12. UPDATE Man arrested for death of cyclist Greg Anderson: https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2017-07-17-man-arrested-for-death-of-cyclist-greg-anderson/
  13. I'm selling a brand new 36t oval Cannondale Hollowgram Si compatible chainring for anyone that's interested as my new Scalpel purchase unfortunately didn't materialise. It's the perfect companion for an Eagle setup https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/239423-chainrings/
  14. I did both last year and found The Jock much tougher and I preferred the route, but as others have said, it really depends on your partner (for Panorama) and who turns up for the races. Both are great road events but keep in mind there are no road closures which does put some people off.
