  1. Do the MR, see whats going on. I had the same issue, [could not power through the knee] Sports doctor recommended surgery and seemed a bit trigger happy imo. I decided not to. 3 months off the bike, some physio, and a sloooowww ramp up on the km. 6 months later I can cycle again as before.
  2. I think technology increased the endurance "factor" of riders. Comfort = less fatigue = more time at the higher AVG speeds Bike weight is irrelevant when maintaining a constant speed on a flat surface. The Bike's Aerodynamics has obviously improved, but the main drag comes from the body anyway. 3% could be correct If your think the bike is less than 7% of the moving object
  3. We did a weekend tour from PTA to Bronkies Dam. Was great fun!
  4. I've been running a X9 long cage for 4 years on 11-42, no issue
  5. Bottom line, if it was affordable everyone would praise this event, people pay to be amazed. Tough to amaze people by not increasing the distance and elevation every year, also if you are running out of fresh single track
  6. Thanks for bringing the Bavaria Stand back!! One does not simply ride hard and not drink a Bavaria at the finish line!
  7. I've just replaced my Sram 11-36 + 42t Woltooth GC with the Sunrace 11-42 10 speed. The Sunrace performs great. (I have a Sram X9 RD) Keep on tweaking until you get solid shifting
  8. Giant nailed it with the trance x 29er 3 years ago. Scott and rocky mountain's new bikes have the trance x 29er geometry. Giant is missing the boat when they discarded 29ers to find the best of both. both? 26er no longer exist, so basically, 27.5 is between nothing. Even Nino is changing his views
  9. This bike was designed 3 year too early geometry wise Now its becoming the XC norm
  10. I have the same trance X4, my first love that my wife rides now and then. The fork (RS TK coil) you should upgrade The SX-C wheels are very heavy, that's where the "Boep" sit The groupset is not That heavy, the crank is hollow core, but consider 1 x 10 (I did a stage race with my X4, stock standard)
  11. 5 years ago 29ers would have made a lot more sense if they considered changing standards like 148 boost etc to adress all the "cons" of 29ers. 27.5+ gets a warmer reception due to developments caused by Fatties and 29ers. No one talks about sluggish acceleration on 27.5+ because ("you cannot compare it to ....ers) I think MTB will settle on a aspect ratio (width vs Diam) which is ultimatley the fastest for the racing discipline (DH, END,XC)
  12. GT and Giant are also good options around R7K
  13. I hear you brother. My average on Saturday (Hazeldean 40 km) was 187, peaking at 207 I was not out of breath nor did my legs hurt. It felt as normal as ever. But I have never been to a doctor
