  1. I've printed out the pictures and given them to all the drivers. They're quite enthusiastic after hearing about the reward. I just hope I don't have five Niners waiting on my doorstep tomorrow and a bunch of angry Hubbers complaining about getting jacked.
  2. I'd be interested in how well that TomTom multisport with the HR monitor built into the watch strap works. If it's reliable then I'd rather go for that than a chest strap. Saw that going for R4500, which seems pretty reasonable.
  3. Really sorry to read about this. I'll keep my eyes peeled mate.
  4. Thanks for all the feedback guys, given me plenty of direction and some more reading to do.
  5. I'm exploring a frame change in order to finally build the no-hassle, stripped-down Single Speed I've always wanted. I want to avoid chain tensioners (simplicity and a clean look) so I'm looking at steel frames with horizontal dropouts. I'm quickly realising that these kinds of things are going to require changes elsewhere, such as with my wheels which are currently 9mmQR. I think the dropouts on most of the frames I'm looking at are around 10mm. This is a bit of a noob question but what kind of hubs/locking mechanism am I going to need for the rear wheel? And is there any way I can convert my current QR (and no it's not something built with that in mind, like a Hope hub)?
  6. I hope you heal up quickly for tomorrow. How did it happen?
  7. It's not bad it's just an additional hassle. Part of the joy of SS is the zero maintenance fun of getting on the bike and simply riding. Chain tensioners have to be regularly tightened, etc.
  8. Why would he say 'Eish'?. If you want to avoid the accusations of racism and profiling then don't write stupid comments like that.
  9. Much appreciated. you make a good point about how low the cost really is given the price of the equipment and how long a good bleed can potentially last.
  10. That's what I would have said too. What do you make of the alternative oils that people have suggested in the thread? Any good or is it a case of getting what you pay for with these mineral brakes?
  11. I'd be very interested in these if you're running them at the beginning of next year. It would be a great way for me to get back on the bike with the incentive of leaning a few new good habits. Are you considering other venues as The Spruit can sometimes be a bit difficult to get to.
  12. I would really like to give this a go. It sounds like a fun format but there's no way it will happen for me this year. Are you planning to hold any more events next year?
  13. It doesn't really matter does it? There's no God of mountain biking who decides who gains entrance to trail heaven depending on what they rode in their lifetime. I think people also make a lot of presumptions about WHY other people ride the way they do. 95% of the time people ride the kind of bike and trail they choose because that's what fills a spot in their life and rewards their sensibilities. And that's awesome. It's about getting your kicks without caring if anyone thinks your endurance events are boring, your half marathons aren't demanding enough, your Enduro riding is for show offs or your downhill is for wannabes. And dress the way you want. The guy that thinks you're kitted out the way you are because you want to look wealthy, more skilled than you really are or simply draw attention to yourself is dealing with their own issues not yours. We're all caricatures to some degree. If you're getting what you want out of it and not hurting anyone in the process then there's not a damn thing anyone else should have to say about it.
