  1. Hi guys. Myself and a buddy already entered via entry ninja but we can't make any of the registration days. Is there really no way to register at the event? I haven't done many races but that would be very unfortunate.
  2. I think it all comes down to why you ride a mountain bike. I speak under correction but I'm pretty sure Myles and most people that do enduros ride for the descents, the exhilaration of riding fast and technical terrain that gives an adrenaline rush like very few other experiences can. I definitely consider myself among this group of descent driven people. Fortunately, and I speak purely for the Western Cape here, we don't need to do 1000+ metre elevation gains to ride some of the best descents in South Africa. This probably makes us Cape Town okes complacent when it comes down to getting some serious T.I.T.S which is a very important aspect when it comes to any competitive cycling format. As for you Myles, I also want to thank you for the write up as it has inspired me to finally commit my mind to seriously train for and participate in next year's event. Super stoked for that one! Ignore the haters for they are few and the lovers are many!
  3. https://www.ted.com/talks/james_veitch_this_is_what_happens_when_you_reply_to_spam_email/up-next You should definitely try something like this!
  4. Two trips to the top of helderberg farm should meet your requirements. Just beware as most lines from the top are either downhill or enduro routes.
  5. Waaaaay too many "26 inch...kids bike" and "26 inch...commuter" posts here and no one representing!I can't be the only one with a 26" enduro machine and not afraid to flaunt it! Santa Cruz Blur LTC
  6. High Tower vs Bronson...let the Google searches begin!
  7. Awesome competition! I'm just curious as to what a "standard Santa Cruz build kit" entails???
  8. Good day to all the hubbers out there! I've recently switched over to clipless pedals on my Santa Cruz Blur LTc (old school rules!) and I've been looking for a decent pair of SPD Shoes that work well for all mountain riding. At the moments I'm using a hand-me-down set-up from my old man which is purely XC and not great for if/when I become unclipped during decent. Anyways I came across the Spiuk Nervio MTB SPD Shoes on CRC for a good price and I'm wondering if anybody out there has any experience with these shoes?
  9. The AM trails looks sick. Is it new? I've only been to tokai once since it opened again. We only hit cobra, mamba and boomslang followed by dh2 and 3 which were all sick!
  10. Have you spoken to Michael from X-fusion yet?
  11. I agree on staying with flats. They will refine your technique nicely over time and will lead to less bad technique habits, especially if you're hitting the DH stuff. I rode flats for a good couple of years and only just switched to cleats. Hit helderberg trails a few times but have avoided the big stuff mostly for now seeing as Im running on borrowed cleats and shoes which are probably not ideal for the enduro type trails I'm tackling there but I must say it feels great being connected to the bike and the control is on another level, especially through the rough stuff. Kicking out will be a big adjustment as its way harder so far and as mentioned before, you do need to calculate a bit more on corners but the general increase in power through the pedals = more speed = big smile on face. ???? Downsides so far are clipping in on the go as I don't have any platform with my shimano M250's. Going to upgrade as soon as I've tested the cleated side of things a bit longer and can justify the funds.

  13. We had such an epic ride at oak valley this morning! So beautiful and the trails are always amazing. Great challenge to!
  14. Finally my Santa Cruz Blur frame is ready to shred! It's my first time using the 1x setup and I just can't wait!
  15. Had an epic ride at Helderberg Trails this morning! I have been riding these trails for a while now but thanks to the amazing work being done on a regular basis I still have the biggest smile on my way down. These really are world class trails and if you havnt experienced them you best lube those chains and get cranking because it's so worth it! I don't have pics from this morning so these are from our previous ride.
