  1. I've seen videos of kids who look about 7 doing motox and have on these helmets that look hilarious because it makes them look like a bobblehead. but i do worry about the safety implications of such a big heavy helmet being supported by such undeveloped neck muscles and bones. Kali protectives have a theory (i dunno, its pretty logical, probably not a theory) that a thinner helmet produces less torque on your head/neck when it hits the deck, i think this could be a big issue for smaller younger riders. when helmet shopping take this into consideration, having something light, smooth (doesnt get caught on anything while sliding) and thin will make a massive difference how it handles the fall, there must be child specific lids out there that incorporate all this stuff, as the foam required to stop a a grown person's head safely will be like a rock when absorbing the energy of a 7yr old's head hitting the ground... good protective gear is expensive, and he'll probably outgrow it in about 15 minutes, but you only get one noggin, and it's worth taking care of.
  2. i got a new bike, and its absolutely massive, so thats cool an XL Bird Aeris AM9 with a lyrik RC2, a super deluxe rct and DT E1900s, which are the strongest wheels ive ever used (had them on a previous bike, highly recommend if you like round rims)
  3. theres nothing like some encouraged negligence!
  4. I approve of this comment Sidenote: the mid spec one (pictured above) with a lyrik RC2 is absurd value for money It's important to note though that the tyres this comes with might need replacing with something heavier, so dont take it as 14.2kg, more like 14.6kg
  5. washing the tyres would defy the whole point of the bike!
  6. this is my Hardtail to replace the Artbike, by contrast this has no paint on it whatsoever the epitome of ride hard and put away wet, the lack of maintenance this requires is amazing, just pull it out the garage and go riding!
  7. I don't think Radon qualifies as lesser known, but you certainly don't see them every day in South Africa
  8. I've had that exact dislocation. went otb in 2015, and my x-ray looked about the same as yours, i was 19 or 20 at the time. i think i spent a few weeks in a sling and then went to physio, where i was given a theraband and a bunch of exercises to do, which i didnt do as consistently as i should have. After the sling they molded this plastic thing on my arm that held it extended so that i could get range of motion back, and i was encouraged to try extending my arm. It took ages for me to build the muscle back up and even longer to get my confidence back. luckily my elbows can overextend a bit so the range i lost meant that arm just goes straight (I didnt lose any range in closing my elbow) there still isint as much stability in that elbow, even today, but only really when it gets twisted or torqued (think arm wrestle movement, in either direction). I remember it sometimes getting stiff while riding, but i think that stopped about a year ago, now the only time i notice it is when im climbing and do something strange (pull on a hold at a weird angle), but then it totally shuts me down, its like a self preservation emergency shutoff. 9. we once got 2 26in downhill bikes in the back of a fiat panda all cars are bike friendly, just get the one that works best for you actually no dont do that, work out your budget, then spend that all on a fleet of citigolfs (they swallow bikes easily) and a field and go racing with your buddies
  10. considering thats a factory 36 fit grip 2 and probably some expensive cranks that'd put it at about 45k for frame and shock alone, which, whille totally insane, puts it inline with other boutique brands like santa cruz, and cheaper than a yeti sb150 Edit: i think those are raceface aeffect cranks, which arent totally expensive actually, but still, 45k is about right
  11. Oh no I'm definitely racing, I just plan on finishing this time
  12. Last year my time down SS4 was Just over an hour... it was also by far the most expensive race stage ive ever done of any kind. So obviously this year i decided to help with timing.
  13. Man i was not a happy camper there, everything was going so well! such a fun event though, i wish i could ride stage 2 on repeat!
  14. Yes of course, like when people insist on having 2 derailleurs on their bikes?!
