  1. E-bikes are still a fantastic enabler for the disabled.
  2. Whatever you buy, if you have an MTB with large front tyres, do make sure that your tyre will fit into it before buying and mounting on the wall!
  3. I propose the start of a sideline event to run in parallel - riders dress in skipy leather attire, and we call it Erotica.
  4. Try measure the loop with Strava on your phone a few times and you will see the (huge) variation that can happen. A Garmin is significantly more accurate (i.e. has a faster polling internal) than strava on your phone, but you'll get the idea that a 150m variation over a 15km loop is actually pretty accurate. Also, there is a fair amount of "distortion" that happens (mostly on measurement of elevations rather than distance) due, as far as I know, to the more extreme angle of sight from SA to GPS satellites, which are skewed towards providing service to the northern hemisphere (unvarified info!).
  5. German owned, but as far as I know, all design is done here so I'd consider it to be South African????
  6. Here I was thinking this was the forum for general chit chat, like at the water cooler, meanwhile it's 7000+ posts about actual coffee machines ????
  7. Definitely nice trails and worth a visit, however I would note that they are more suited to the marathon and xco riders as, for a rider who leans more towards trail/enduro, those leg-burning uphills barely justify the downhill sections of trail. Also, go early cos that side of the mountain can get moer-hot!
  8. The date was reserved on the calendar, but does not mean that the event is happening. There are spanner-in-the-works admin issues... and those of you that know, know that management have little time for admin. Snot looking good, in my opinion. But yes, train hard!
  9. Awesome write-up Myles, was great to have you there man - hopefully next year you can tell us about Stage 5 :-)
  10. E-bikes are a fantastic enabler for the handicapped.
  11. And I just realised, probably the best thing about the whole weekend is not one rider felt the need to wear their underwear in public! #coverthatlycradammit
  12. Hi Rock, it was R850 for two night's camping, a whole-lotta-painful racing, all-you-can-eat potjie, lots of free after-party booze, bonfires, good vibes and endless positivity! And at the risk of opening myself up to the trolls, FYI, the "invite only" thing is a bit of a misnomer because all anyone had to do was say "yo, can I come?" and the answer was always "yes of course!"... contrary to popular belief, there ain't no secret society and handshake! We f'd up a bit in the beginning by making the 2016 facebook page private instead of public and frustratingly facebook don't allow it to be switched back, and by the time we realised it was too late to create a new one, but next year it'll be public and then word will get out better - it's only our second event, and we live and learn! Join us next year!
