  1. Ah, that shines a whole new light on the subject and suddenly clears up a lot of content in this thread. Thanks!!
  2. Great, thanks for the info. I assume the DH and Enduro events are run same day as each other. Are there guys that do both DH and enduro events? I have a DH and enduro bike and wouldn't mind trying both. Ill hopefully get to try the race on the 21st and learn from there; Thanks for the info guys
  3. Hi guys, Im keen to try out the next enduro event. I have a few q's what are the distances like going uphill? I know the uphill isn't timed, but what's the cut off time? I'm not yet as fit as I would like to be, but I love thrashing it downhill. Keen to give it a shot. Ive paid WPDH club fees for the year, does a membership card get sent out? I've not had any receipt of payment or anything from them yet. Sorry for all the noob questions, but the fact is, I am a noob when it comes to competing.
  4. Here's my newly built SC nomad
  5. HI Guys I have the 2015 Trance with the Fox float. I heard there was a difference with the 2014 and 2015 Fox forks. Anyone know more about this? So far the fork is serving me well, but I don't know any better. Ignorance is bliss.... I have looked at upgrading, but only because I want a little more travel and thicker upper tube. All my googling has come up with similar info as posted above, the pikes seem to be top dog.
  6. Thanks for the tip, Ill give them a try and see if they are any better. I wanted some HD tyres, but stock was scarce when I went shopping. I'm quite happy with the Spez purgatory's. They are a lot cheaper than Schwalbe's too
  7. Hi All New here, and just read this whole thread start to finish. I've recently started riding again, and the weapon of choice was the Giant Trance. I rode the Anthem 29er and the feel of the Trance was more to my style of riding. I ended up getting a 2015 blue and black one in a large frame. I am 1.76m tall, and borderline med/large apparently... After a few years of not doing any riding, I'm impressed how easy I got the hang of the bike. Im not a racing snake by any means, I do the uphills, so I can go down them again. The bike climbs great, and loves everything I throw at it downhill. Now that I've put a few hours in on the saddle, I have started to pick up on a couple of weaknesses. Firstly, the stock Nobby nic tyres.... They are rubbish. The front permanently feels loose and does not inspire much confidence when pushing it. I can tell that being a noob, so the experts out there would have sussed it instantly. I have gone tubeless with a Racing Ralph on the back and a Spez purgatory on the front. The difference is substantial. Tubeless has saved me a few times with all those devil thorns at Bloemendal. The other thing I seem to have issues with is the braking power on the front. I really seem to have to exert more power than I feel should be needed to get the front to slow down. Maybe its setup wrong, I don't know. They feel firm and bite in the right place, you just have to pull really hard. I'm going full xtr on the brakes with a 203mm disk upfront. I was thinking of the Hope E3's, but Ive just bought a downhill bike, and they would be much better going on that. Plus I'm trying to shed a little weight off the bike. Thanks for the great thread!
