  1. Also so tempted to try a coil. I am running a 210by50 rear shock with a 4 bar suspension system. My only issue is when putting my weight into a spring calculator for an estimation of what LBS spring to get. I'm around 95kg and the spring it recommends to me way surpasses the spring weights that I have seen. So if anyone knows where i can find a 900lbs spring (yes I know sounds insane) I would love to try it. Looking at the Marzochi Bomber coil shock.
  2. If you are able to test ride the fuel ex,do it. I rode it overseas and its unreal. I myself found it overall more fun then my giant trance (2018 27.5 version).
  3. All the merida one twenty frames in the lineup are the same Geometry. The only difference would be the components the higher up in the range you go. So unfortunately yes they will all have the same clearance. However maybe pop into a shop and have a look at one. The stock forekaster and Rim combo that comes on the merida might be all you are after. I just immediately noticed the difference in width as soon as I laid eyes on the bike. I watched a review on it too and as expected the guy went mad for the bike, his only fault was the tyre clearance. I have been looking at a GT sensor too which might interest you possibly.
  4. Yeah the one twenty I was after had a forekaster 2.35. When seeing it in person it was physically much narrower then a 2.5dhr on a 30mm internal rim. And my go to would be a 30mm inner rim width with a 2.5 dhr. So when seeing the clearance with the forekaster it totally put me off. And it wouldn't even be a case of just squeezing the 2.5 tyre in, it literally wouldnt fit. So still trying to get my head around it and see If I could survive with a tyre that narrow. Just such good value for money and that's what keeps drawing me in.
  5. I too would say the merida one twenty. My only issue with the bike is the max tyre clearance. You cannot get more then a 2.35 in the rear. I have seen the bike in person and there is really minimum tyre clearence even with a 2.35. I was considering one and that is the only thing that put me off it.
  6. Not bad actually. And you can upgrade it slowly. You could prob even pick it up for a 1000rand cheaper somehwere like cajees. Bike addict is even about 500rand cheaper then sportsman's. It's an awesome option if you don't have the patience to slowly build one up i guess.
  7. 11900 on bike addict. Really good value. Got all the specs you looking for. In a years time if you have spare money you can always upgrade the fork. But will still be fine for general trails and commute. Titan plus comp
  8. So wasn't too sure what price you were looking at. I was just giving an example of what would be similar priced to the giant xtc equivalent with the specs you mentioned. But yeah it was just an option possibly. And 27.5 plus tyres does boost confidence a lot on the trails. And on your commutes to work the extra air volume in the tyre will help a fortune with comfort. For pure speed on the commute though you would prob be better off with a 29er and normal 2.2 tyres. But comfort and not much slower (depending on your legs) I'd say 27.5plus. Also I might be mistaken but I think Titan brought out a nice range of plus size hardtails which might fit your budget. But yeah it's all personal pref I guess. Its just if I had a do it all hardtail it would for sure be a 27.5plus.
  9. Was going to try and mention maybe going for a plus size 27.5 hardtail for added comfort on your commutes and added grip on the trails. Such as a merida big Trail. Which is great value for money. And that plus wheel should have a circumference of a skinny 29er wheel. Hopefully making it not fall under the 'junk' category.
  10. What is your guys opinion on riding modders alone? Is it slightly risky? That is on a weekday morning. I'm sure a weekend it's pumping so should be cool on a weekend.
  11. Hi guys, can anyone please advise me as to where my best chances of finding a spring for my 2013 rockshox boxer could be? Looking for a blue spring which will be for 81 to 90kg. Thanks so much.It is a coil shock. Not air.
  12. That chainstsy protecter though!! Made me LOL haha
  13. Silverback have very awesome 27.5 trail bikes at the moment too. Super good value for money. Trance is always good value for money... Merida have really good value for money trail bikes too. I am just biased towards maestro, so my personal opinion is the Trance.
  14. Really Really enjoy it. Its like a Dirt Jump bike on steroids that can handle a lot more then a pump track and table tops. But really am enjoying it. Only thing i am going to change is later in the year I want to go 1by11. Just did not have the funds at the moment for a groupset.
