  1. Any idea if there was a e-bike circus like a previous year?

If you search here for Touring, you'll find a substantial thread with lots of useful info. Also search classifieds...someone was recently selling a full set if Arkel panniers and racks.
  3. Hi, Would anyone have a recommendation for a quality wheelbuilder in the Pretoria East area? And whilst I'm at it, a good bike shopping the area? Singletrack Cycles seems to be closest to me but I don't hsve any experience of them... TIA.
  4. Bidon just up the road have cameras on the road. Might be worth asking if they have footage of the group? May be they started there?
  5. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/bike-rentals/420138/bike-hire-cradle-of-humankind Not sure if these guys still operate? Or google! E.g. Cradlemoon rent bikes I think?
  6. Quite a useful resource on how to add fixtures which may be of interest...https://bikepacking.com/index/add-cage-mounts-bike/
  7. To those roadies who ride out to Pretoria E where a (long standing?) sinkhole has blocked a road (Delmas area??)...could you please tell me which road it is on and its location?
  8. I'm moving house and have some frames, wheels and parts going spare. I recollect seeing some okes on BH who collected such and built up bikes for those in need. If you're one of those, then get in touch please. I'm in the W Rand near the Cradle cycle way and my hour glass has almost run out...
  9. Perhaps try a Wanted ad in the classified section?
  10. Ridefarr also have a 'monster cross' frame that takes 2.4". Their local positions changed a while ago and I can't remember if they still have RSA support? https://ridefarr.com/product/farr-out-frame-fork-kit/
  11. Cotic Cascade looks like it takes upto 2.4" but not sure of local availability...
  12. A couple of additions to the excellent advice so far: 1. Look up the specs for the RD part number. 2. The largest sprocket value from the spec should be considered a conservative guideline (ie often you can shift larger sprockets than the spec with no problems...but not always. I shift +2 over my RD max spec with no issues whatsoever.) 3. Overcoming a shifting issue from 2 above can include an RD extender and/or B screw manipulation, new longer B screw or even reversing the B screw. Plenty more on this on the web. Lots of hacks around if a 34-28 granny gear isn't big enough!
  13. Was just about to type this...sagely advice!
