  1. Just buy it - great quality for little money - you probably wouldn't need to hide the invoice from the Mrs either. I've been fitting Rapide parts since 2019 including stem, handlebars, grips, cranks, chain wheels etc. Have a chat to Wayne at Rapide if you have any doubts - he'll even explain the design and manufacturing process. D
  2. I've got one of these (150mm travel) and made the mistake of over tightening and broke the little gold ring right at the front of the assembly and maybe something else. Bottom line I couldn't get the wheel off as the flange didn't properly close. Had the LBS strip for me but couldn't get it to work properly. In the end I bought a new one at around R600 which is expensive but given that the fork is actually decent, I replaced it. I've now stripped the bike it was on so fork and shiny new million dollar thru axle is sitting in a box in the cupboard - waiting for another build .... Nothing useful I know but you're not alone D
  3. Thanks a stack Johnnie, batteries received - Will let you know how the installation goes - PS: need to pay the courier costs so send details please!
  4. If you have no use for those batteries I'd be happy to take them off your hands - I'll PM you!!
  5. Thanks all, great suggestions - especially the DIY warnings and pictorial
  6. I know - was hoping that there's a privateer out there ............. somewhere, that can strip and replace a battery.
  7. Hi All I need to find someone who can repair / maintain a Tom Tom Spark 3 GPS watch - Need a new battery or can swap it in from my Runner 3 (screen stuffed) if need be. Any help appreciated. Tx D
  8. Agree 100% - great online - even better in person. Wayne's a great guy and extremely knowledgeable - also won't BS you or try and sell you stuff you don't need.
  9. I've been using the Onza Ibex front and Canis rear combination (60 TPI in both black and skinwall) since 2016 on 2 bikes. Never had any of these problems. I've found the Onza's to be tough as nails - Grip is superb and I run them at low pressure 0.8 - 1 front and 1.6 - 1.8 rear - Terrain dependent unless I know there's going to be gravel or road - then a bit higher. As for Batseal - It's everything they say it is. Great product and well priced. I would suggest that when fitting a new tire run it at higher pressure for the first ride. Always remember to have sealant levels checked regularly and replaced when necessary - for me roughly every 4 months.
  10. Try Rapide - they have an extender at a reasonable price. I have also seen a guy use an XT M8000 11 speed derailleur with a road group set and I think he went to a 42. Personally I've built a T Bar hybrid - kept the 50/34 crank but then used a SRAM MTB rear derailleur mated to a 11/36 with these ratio's I mostly ride in the 50 ring.
  11. Bought a pair of Assos T Cento's - sticker price is R5.5K. I bought in 2018 but have hardly used them as mostly used only for road - MTB get whatever comes out of the cupboard first. The elastic on the legs has given up completely and now looks like a frilly skirt. they ride up and the padding bunches. The agents are useless and say that they've been exposed to extreme heat - maybe even a tumble dryer.............. in what world I ask you?? The care instructions were followed and my other stuff literally last longer than I want them to and I didn't pay anywhere near what these cost and that includes the local brands. bottom line - don't buy this crap or if you do, ask for a 2 for 1 deal - maybe you'll feel less violated when the first one fails.
  12. It's so hard to judge - My ASSOS T Cento S7's with a sticker price of over R5k (still have the box to prove) are now a little over a year old and the elastic at the bottom of the leg has given up and now resembles a frilly skirt!! no compression and they ride up my thighs. I only use these for road (and care for them correctly) and if I consider my other bibs which I mainly use for MTB, the use I've had and the use I'll still have - this bib was a complete and utter waste of hard earned cash. Anything decent at around R2k these days is a bargain, so I'm all for experimenting with honest gear at the right price .............. I certainly won't be looking at ASSOS again!
  13. A friend of mine had his Scott MTB stolen from the Bidon car park on Friday morning (11 Oct) while we were having breakfast. Bike was locked onto rack with a cable that only bolt cutters could get through. So they were prepared - looks like xmas shopping has already started!
  14. LMFAO - what a brilliant comment!!!
