Fun with Garmin this morning

Sunday night I charged up my 130, commuted Tuesday and Wednesday, if I'm generous with the time the unit was on before and after each ride that is probably a total of 3 hours on time.

Head out this morning and LiveTrack fails to start, no problem, I'm planning on stopping a few km from home to take a pic of the sunrise, so I'll just start it then.

No such luck, as I hit the menu button on the Garmin it turns off. Battery flat.

Ok, I know the distance, I'll just make note of the time when I stop at work and do a manual entry.

No such luck, connect.garmin is offline this morning.

I'm assuming the reason livetrack failed was because they are offline, dont know if thats what caused the head unit to die on me though. Luckily I have USB cables at the office, so have the unit on charge now.

What it did show me was how reliant I was on the data to pace myself. Kept finding myself looking down at the unit only to be greeted with a blank screen.

Can't comment on the battery dying but can confirm connect is offline today. Tried going into the app on my phone not long ago to sync my watch and got a message at the top of the screen saying server maintenance, check back shortly.

Forums showing is down worldwide.  Major issue must be happening at Garmin for it to be off this long

Well I hope it is an update to fix the elev gain issues I have been having. 2000+ meter on a spruit ride. Looks impressive tho.

I just called my wife to let her know that she'll be getting a whatsapp live location link instead of the garmin livetrack link tonight.

didnt want to just send the whatsapp link without first warning her, lest she panic that something was wrong.

My 520 is also k@k after the last fw update. Bluetooth kills the battery.

Try turning the BT off to improve the battery life. It made a massive difference on my Garmin
